Overview

Provide administrative support to the FAO Liaison Office in Japan

You have:

  • Advanced university degree in social science, journalism, political science or related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in Japanese and in English
  • Limited knowledge of one of the other official UN languages
  • National of Japan or resident in the country with a regular work permit

Organizational Setting:

The incumbent provide service to the FAO Liaison Office in Japan (LOJ) located in Yokohama. Some tasks could be performed online while others would require reporting to the office in person. Such arrangements would be agreed upon initially and revised periodically in accordance with overall office arrangements.

Reporting Lines:

The incumbent will report to Administrative Assistant of the FAO Liaison Office in Japan.

Technical Focus

Under the overall supervision of FAO Administrative Assistant, and in close coordination with other staff in LOJ, the incumbent will undertake administration and general office support activities to enhance the visibility of FAO and Food Security issues in Japan, including raising awareness on FAO’s work in eradicating hunger and malnutrition. The incumbent will closely liaise with stakeholders including Government institutions, media, NGOs, private companies, academia and research institutions.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Assist administration and general affairs works;
  • Assist to disseminate information materials and documents on the state of world food and agriculture and other flagship reports, both in Japanese and English;
  • Provide support in organizing public advocacy events;
  • Analyse information, data, statistics, relativities, trends, problems, and/or issues to support effective communication delivery, new initiatives, and the preparation of plans, strategies, reports, policies and/or other products;
  • Assist to coordinate various activities for FAO National Goodwill Ambassadors and FAO Parliamentarian Friendship League as well as existing and potential partners;
  • Assist the Office’s efforts on partnership building and strengthening in relation to SDGs; and,
  • Perform any other duties upon request.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social science, journalism, political science or related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in Japanese and in English. Limited knowledge of one of the other official UN languages
  • National of Japan or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
