The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programs globally through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions.

How can you make a difference?

Under the general guidance of the ICT Manager, the ICT Officer has major responsibilities as a programmer for developing, documenting, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting system programs, forms, reports, interface functions and procedures related to SAP Financial Accounting modules. Additionally, the incumbent will provide technical support as needed for Process Orchestration (PO), NetWeaver Gateway (GW), Cloud Platform, Mobile Platform (mAsset App), Solution Manager and Third-party interfaces. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing required technical support (ABAP,FIORI UI5, WebDynpro) during implementation of SAP releases and upgrades.

Purpose of the position

UNICEF Enterprise Resource Planning Systems that run UNICEF’s core business applications are the backbone that enables the Organization to execute and sustain its mandate. UNICEF Business rules, business processes, IPSAS principles, integration with business partner systems are critical components of these systems. It is imperative that these systems run optimally and ensure that the integrity of the business information is maintained across the ERP ecosystem at all times for all UNICEF offices.

The responsibilities of this position entail support to:

  • The Business Application systems function as desired and ensure smooth business operations.
  • Events that threaten the functioning of these systems are identified and mitigated in a timely manner.
  • Enforcing support systems are in place and function as per the stipulated support tiers and that support calls are resolved as per the agreed SLAs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in system integration and application development as required.
  • Documented Change management systems are applied to ensure that the defined standards/guidelines, documentation and traceability of changes are adhered to.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop programs, mobile applications and interfaces. Test and release solutions into production, after the programs have been approved by QA. Support user queries related to application integration.
  • Maintain existing applications and interfaces, monitor errors and suggest improvements in the technical areas.
  • Provide documentation on new and existing application integration areas. Work closely with the Systems Analyst to ensure that the application integrity is maintained across the enterprise.
  • Recommend architectural improvements and simplification of interfaces to ensure consistency, data integrity and better performance.
  • Keep abreast of developments within the area of information technology and engages with the supervisor on new application areas and technology. Create prototypes and proof of concepts for new SAP technologies.
  • Participate in the definition and enforcement of development & security standards and best practices in UNICEF.
  • Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in Computer Science, information systems, Engineering, or relevant technical or business-related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience at the national and international levels.
  • Hands-on working experience in programming and/or systems development in SAP Financial Accounting modules. Knowledge of all the phases of system development life cycle methodologies.
  • Experience in developing SAP programs, reports, forms, workflows, WebDynpros, SAPUI5, SAP Fiori applications and Core Data Set (CDS) views.
  • Experience with Enhancement frameworks, and SAP upgrades.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring interfaces with SAP using Payment Medium Workbench, SOAP and REST webservices, OData services in SAP Gateway.
  • UNICEF’s business process knowledge and functional knowledge in SAP Financial Accounting area will be an asset. Fluency in English required, working knowledge of another UN language (French, Spanish) is desirable.
