  • Must be registered with KNDI.
  • Minimum 1 year experience within an INGO in implementing emergency community nutrition.

  • Experience in nutrition survey and assessment.
  • Proven analytical, communication/ negotiation skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Experience in report writing and excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work in hardship areas (previous experience in a camp setting will be an added advantage).
  • Flexible and positive personality.
  • Strong planning and implementation capacity.
  • Confident and capable negotiator, communicator and networker.

Job Description

Reporting to the Facility In-charge in a level 2 facility, Nutritionist II will be responsible for the implementation of nutrition screening, treatment of acute malnutrition, micronutrient supplementation, and promotion of appropriate MIYCN practices at health facilities. Key areas will include but not limited to the detection and integrated management of acute malnutrition through continuum of care, MIYCN, MNDC and reporting and submission of weekly and monthly reports as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Effectively follow MOH protocols for inpatient management of SAM cases with complications at the stabilization centre - Ensure daily anthropometric assessments, feed administration and routine medication according to the protocol are done and documented - Implementation of outpatient therapeutic program of severely acute malnourished children under-fives as per the IMAM guidelines/ ComPAS protocol - Implementation of supplementary feeding of the moderately malnourished under-five children, pregnant and lactating women as per the IMAM guidelines/ComPAS protocol - Implement Maternal Infant and young Child nutrition program - Support capacity building and OJT for the incentive staff through identification of capacity gaps and supporting training. - Support the systematic dissemination of key nutrition education messages to improve dietary practises. - Monitor utilization of essential nutrition supplies and ensure daily reconciliation of nutrition supplies. - Compile and submit weekly nutrition reports and monthly MOH summary reports for entry into KHIS - Participate in facility-based data review meetings and share performance on key nutrition indicators. - Liaise with pharmacist/facility in-charge and order for nutrition commodities to be prepositioned based on consumption and clients on treatment. - Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
