You have:
- An advanced university degree in Nutrition, Child Health, Public Health, or a related field of study is required.
- At least five years of relevant professional Nutrition experience with UN/UNICEF is required.
- Experience in managing Nutrition activities in an emergency and development settings is a strong asset.
- Excellent command of English both oral and written is required.
- Familiarity with local languages is an asset.
- Strong analytical and communication skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment is important.
Contract

How can you make a difference?
The Nutrition Specialist will work within the Nutrition Section to support the nutrition portfolio. The role will focus on strengthening Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition programming, adolescent nutrition programing, and other preventive nutrition programming. The Nutrition Specialist will provide technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programme cycle, from development planning to delivery of results.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
- Management, Coordination and Planning.
- Technical assistance for MIYCN programming
- Support adolescent programming implementation
- Support AFSeN programming
- Coordinate and generate evidence
Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
Support adolescent programming implementation
- Planning, coordination, monitoring of WIFS interventions, including piloting of out-of-school intervention
- Support functionalization and utilization of WIFS database in coordination with IM specialist
- Analyze WIFS database on a quarterly basis and communicate with MoE and zonal officers
- Support WIFS SCM in coordination with the supply officer
- Contribute to the implementation of the WIFS C4D action plan
- Support integration of WIFS with WASH and education sections
- Coordinate school deworming and WIFS efforts with WHP and WHO
Initiate documentation of WIFS out-of-school programming
- Technical assistance for MIYCN programming
Roll out of MIYCN training
- Support partners/contractors in implementation of agreements
- Ensure quality support of Nutrition Counsellors (NCs) including distribution and utilization of NCs kits
- Participate in technical working groups including micronutrients, MIYCN, among others
- Ensure quality of USI programming
- Ensure joint implementation of the MCH HB
Coordinate with RH and CBHC to provide support to anemia prevention and treatment through ANC/PNC and CHWs.
- Support AFSeN programming
Coordination and advocacy efforts
- Follow advocacy for the GAP
- Participate in AFSeN Nutrition TWG, and other TWGs as required
Participate in One UN efforts as required
- Coordinate and generate evidence
Support implementation of findings of evaluations and studies
Produce data analysis on key programmatic issues and follow up with staff and partners to make decisions based on the data to improve implementation
- Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
Apply and introduce innovative approaches and good practices to build the capacity of partners and stakeholders, and to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable programme results.
Keep abreast, research, benchmark, and implement best and cutting edge practices in nutrition management and information systems. Assess, institutionalize and share best practices and knowledge learned.
Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure optimum efficiency and efficacy of sustainable programmes and projects.
Organize and implement capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients and stakeholders to promote sustainable results on nutrition related programmes and projects.

Education: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: in Nutrition, Child Health, Public Health, or a related field of study
*A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
Work Experience: At least five years of relevant professional Nutrition experience with UN/UNICEF; Experience in managing Nutrition activities in an emergency and development settings is a strong asset; Excellent command of English both oral and written and familiarity with local languages. Familiarity with MIYCN, preventive nutrition programming, and micronutrients Strong analytical and communication skills; Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
