You have:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Public Health or Nutrition (preferably with specialization in Pediatric, health education, health care system management, or epidemiology)
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in planning, managing and implementing nutrition emergency programs with either the UN, International Organizations, and/or NGO at national and international level including field experience.
- Knowledge and experience with operational and action research findings to meet the needs of programs in low- and middle-income countries.
- Experience in the management of the epidemic situation in relation with SAM medical complication.
- Fluency in French is required and working proficiency in English is required.
- Background/familiarity and specific work experience on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (including micronutrients) programmes.
- Familiarity with humanitarian principles, policies and response actions.
- Familiarity with UNICEF emergency policies, financial, supply and administrative rules.
Contract
This is a P-3 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education.
Salary
The salary for this job should be between 113,466 USD and 148,575 USD.

The Nutrition Specialist will be accountable for planning, coordination and providing strategic guidelines of nutrition response/strategy in Monkey Pox context in DRC.
Under the overall direction of UNICEF Monkey Pox response coordinator, under the technical supervision of the Chief of Nutrition Section and coordination with National Nutrition Cluster Coordinator, the Nutrition Specialist will ensure a more effective nutrition response capacity by mobilizing agencies, organizations and NGOs to coordinate and ensuring the mainstream of nutrition response in the global response.
- Summary of key functions/accountabilities
- Ensure that communication strategies, contents and messaging are constantly adapted to the evolving situation and are based on the community feedback.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the Monkey Pox commission and assist the government and partners to improve strategic planning, monitoring and reporting.
- Guide, nurture and oversee the development and strengthening of strategic partnerships with local and international stakeholders, community and civil society groups, local leaders, private sector and other key participating partners in Monkey Pox activities.
- Coordinate media initiatives to ensure that people have access to critical information on Monkey Pox, on protective behaviors and to existing feedback mechanisms, which enable radio stations to reflect on actual challenges and best practices.
- Promote community dialogue strategies and approaches within communities and assure proper Interpersonal communication trainings are offered to local facilitators for these open dialogue sessions.
- Engage communities (CAC, CSO, community groups, business groups, women and youth groups, special populations etc.) for stronger ownership of the Monkey Pox challenges including addressing local resistance and surveillance issue.
- Work with UNICEF sectoral partners, WASH, Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, to incorporate and integrate their normative guidance and activities into the interventions.
- Initiate and guide the evaluation of capacity gaps and needs of trainers.
- Help in the monitoring of the different elements of the communications strategy and coordinate with partners and the government-led president of the communications commission to collect data and feedback to monitor progress of Monkey Pox response.
- Ensure exchange of information and documentation of good practices.

Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Public Health or Nutrition (preferably with specialized in Pediatric, health and nutrition education, health care system management, or epidemiology)
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in planning, managing and implementing nutrition emergency programs with either the UN, International Organizations, and/or NGO at national and international level including field experience and demonstrated professional achievements in Africa; Knowledge and experience with operational and action research findings to meet the needs of programs in low- and middle-income countries.
- Experience in the management of the epidemic situation in relation with SAM medical complication.
- Background/familiarity and specific work experience on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (including micronutrients) programmes.
- Familiarity with humanitarian principles, policies and response actions
- Familiarity with UNICEF emergency policies, financial, supply and administrative rules.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
Language
- Fluency in French is required and working proficiency in English is required.
Knowledge of a local language is an asset.
