You have:

  • An advanced University Degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutritional Epidemiology, International Health and Nutrition, Maternal and Child Nutrition, or other nutrition-related science field is required.
  • A minimum eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in Public Health Nutrition is required.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Proven programmatic experience and publication track record on Maternal Nutrition in development and humanitarian context is required.

Contract

This is a P-4 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 7 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 159,743 USD and 205,956 USD.

Salary for a P-4 contract in New York

The international rate of 90,970 USD, with an additional 75.6% (post adjustment) at this the location, applies. Please note that depending on the location, a higher post adjustment might still result in a lower purchasing power.

UNICEF Program Group is currently undergoing organizational changes; therefore, the exact location of the post has yet to be determined. Selected candidates may be required to commence duties remotely until the location is confirmed. If reassigned or relocated to New York, candidates may be expected to relocate to a new location again during the initial contract or assignment period. When working remotely, the candidate will be required to agree on working hours with the Hiring Office, which may require inclusion of all or some of the NYHQ core working hours (10AM-4PM).

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Senior Adviser, the Nutrition Specialist works with other members of the Management Unit on the Nutrition of School-Age Children, Adolescents, and Women towards the achievement of Unit work plan goals. The Nutrition Specialist collaborates with other Programme Division sections, including Health, Gender, and Adolescent Development and Participation. Furthermore, the Nutrition Specialist works closely with all UNICEF Regional Offices, UNICEF Supply Division, and priority Country Offices to support programs on Maternal Nutrition.

How can you make a difference?

Under the leadership of the Senior Nutrition Advisor, who leads UNICEF’s work on the prevention of all forms of malnutrition among women – including maternal nutrition – you will support the development of policies, programmes, advocacy and knowledge generation for maternal nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Key functions and accountabilities include the following:

Technical support and guidance

  • Updates UNICEF guidance documents in line with latest scientific and programmatic knowledge
  • Offers technical support to UNICEF Regional and Country Offices on Maternal Nutrition

Grant management and donor relations

  • Manages grants held by UNICEF Headquarters on Maternal Nutrition
  • Strengthens existing donor relations
  • Leads the development of funding proposals and establishes new donor relations

Organizational representation

  • Represents UNICEF in global, regional, and national fora on Maternal Nutrition
  • Serves as UNICEF representative on global expert groups
  • Convenes global actors on Maternal Nutrition

Knowledge management

  • Establishes an internal knowledge management agenda on Maternal Nutrition Supports UNICEF Regional and Country Offices on knowledge management

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Strengthens global monitoring systems on Maternal Nutrition
  • Contributes to meeting organizational reporting requirements at UNICEF Headquarters
