Program Implementation • Assessment. Conduct initial assessment to establish the available foods in the house holds and how children are fed. The results will be used to inform approaches to enrich the diets. • Orientation of mother-to-mother support groups on poultry rearing including local feed production. The mothers will be trained on local poultry keeping techniques. WV as well procure medicines and work with the FSL sector to ensure the chicken are vaccinated and treated to stay healthy. WV will also train mothers to produce local chicken feeds using family left over foods. • Selection and Training of mother-to-mother support groups on local food enrichment using animal proteins (eggs and peanut butter in addition to the vegetables from the existing and ongoing kitchen gardens initiatives. Through the ongoing MICYN program, the M2MSG are already producing a variety of greens in their kitchen gardens. This initiative will empower them to produce chicken, eggs, and peanut butter which will enrich the diet of children 6-23 months with a combination of plant and animal proteins when added to their food every day. • Procure and distribute poultry birds (chicken). At the beginning of the project, procure up to 2000(100 male, 200female) local breeds of chicken and make a one-time distribution to M2MSGs. • Procure peanut seeds. At the beginning of the project, procure up to 500 kilograms of groundnut seeds with the aim of making a one-time distribution to M2MSGs. The mothers will be required to multiply the seeds through planting. In the early months of the project thus before the harvest period and then encourage the mothers to use the family produce or buy groundnuts using savings from their groups. • Project end evaluation. Conduct an end of project evaluation to establish the impact of enriching children’s diet in Juba. The assessment will review children’s diets content and malnutrition status by reviewing OPD attendance at the end of the project. • Ensure Monitoring of the children’s nutrition status from the enrolled HHs through the Family MUAC by mothers and CNVs. • Liaise with the PDQA to develop a database to track and report on beneficiaries. Strategic leadership and Representation • Manage proactive and responsive relationship with the State MoH nutrition department, County health department and authorities in close collaboration with the Project Manager and Coordinator. • Shall be a member of the Nutrition Prevention group of the MoH and should attend all meetings. • Direct implementation, ensuring that all strategic objectives are met through proper design, staffing, implementation and quality assurance at county level. • Respond to adhoc project and donor requests . • Conduct quarterly joint support supervision with other nutrition staffs, CHD and SMoH. • Attend county level coordination meetings • Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor. Reporting • Write the project initial assessment and end evaluation reports • Write weekly reports every Friday by 4pm • Document success stories • Report all incidences affecting service delivery within 24hours • Ensure reporting tools for innovation are available at the nutrition sites. • Provide monthly reports by 2nd of every month • Provide quarterly reports including success stories by 5th of every quarter. Staff and Budget Management • Directly manage health and nutrition facilities staff by developing performance objectives and appraisals. • Support the CHD to ensure qualified staff are recruited into existing positions. • Recruit, train and Supervise Mother to Mother Support groups • Ensure staff adhere to WV policies • Provide on job coaching and mentorship to community nutrition volunteers and M2MSGs staff on weekly basis.
