OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The position will support the operational implementation of Nutrition programmes and activities, including the nutrition surveillance system, as well as monitoring and quality assessment ofinterventions aimed at managing severe malnutrition and childhood obesity. The incumbent will be part of the WHO Country Office team and the Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and Healthier Populations (HPN) unit.The incumbent will work closely with other relevant technical units to guide and support the implementation of the joint work plan between WHO and the Ministry of Health. They will provide technical advice to the Government of Indonesia, collaborate with UN agencies and nongovernmental organizations, and establish networks with other key stakeholders. The incumbent will provide high-quality evidence-based public health advice on nutrition and healthy diets, physical inactivity, and their determinants. They will plan, lead, and support the implementation of initiatives, monitor and evaluate progress, and report on country-level actions.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the National Professional Officer (Environmental Health & Climate Change) and general supervision of the Team Lead, NCDs and Healthier Populations, the incumbent will perform all, or part of the following, and other related responsibilities as required by the needs of the office:Contribute to the implementation of national nutrition programmes, which will ensure the development of nutrition programme profiles in the country, benchmark targets and priorities, selection of nutrition interventions, formulation of programme objectives, and developmentof long and short term action plans. Collaborate with concerned government counterparts on public health programmes related to nutrition and provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and other ministries. Undertake research and data collection on nutrition related public health topics to contribute to the development of public health programmes and activities and reporting.Contribute to the drafting of new public health guidelines, and revision of existing policies and guidelines.Participate in the coordination and organization of relevant workshops, meetings, conferences, and other events relevant to the area of work.Contribute to community outreach activities concerning the extension of health-care networks and other nutrition related activities.Act as a focal point for the area of nutrition Provide technical support in the planning of WHO emergency and humanitarian nutrition activities in emergency and crisis preparedness, response, and recovery at the country levelEnsure the timely and high-quality implementation of biennial workplans, in alignment with Country Office priorities. This includes maintaining zero overdue Purchase Orders by adhering to prescribed country office closure timelines and ensuring timely submission of all donor reports with no overdue submissions.Perform any other relevant work requested by the Team Lead and WHO Representative.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in nutrition or health sciences with a focus on nutrition, obtained from a recognized university. Desirable: Advanced degree (master's degree or PhD) in nutrition, or public health with a focus on nutrition, or a relevant area. Advanced training infacility-based management of severe malnutrition, nutrition surveillance, and communications.

Experience

Essential: At least one year of relevant professional experience in the development and implementation of health programmes at the national or subnational level in the field of nutrition and food security. Desirable: Experience in addressing nutrition from the perspective ofpreventing noncommunicable diseases. Experienceor sound knowledge of the WHO mandate and goals in humanitarian health crisis,or experience in UN organizations/agencies, international institutions, or NGOs.

Skills

Sound knowledge of the WHO and United Nations mandate on nutrition.Proven technical knowledge of strategies and practical actions to address malnutrition in all its forms, including nutrition surveillance systems; knowledge of the operations of the national governments in nutrition and health. REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at IDR 547,860,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
