Nutrition Analyst

Overview

Support implementation and monitoring of nutrition programs.

You have:

• Bachelor university degree in nutrition, nutrition policy, Public Health, Dietetics, food studies, food science, food technology, food engineering or other relevant fields.
• At least 5 years working experience working on nutrition sensitive agricultural programmes and supporting Nutrition sector in Yemen.
• Fluency in English and Arabic is required, and knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
• National of Yemen.

Organizational Setting

FAO's office for Yemen is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Yemen. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country level. This position is based in FAO Representation in Sanaa, Yemen. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Nutrition Analyst – will be under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Yemen, general supervision of Head of Programs and under the technical and direct supervision of the Nutrition and Food Systems Officer.

Technical Focus

Nutrition Analyst – will provide supportive role on FAO Yemen’s work on Nutrition capacity building, value chain development and promotion of household food production, consumption of healthy diets and diet diversification.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Support the implementation and monitoring of FAO field programmes on nutrition and food systems. • Support nutrition mainstreaming and integration in country programmes and projects and effective technical performance of nutrition and food systems approaches. • Support the preparation of training and education materials, technical inputs, training manuals, and draft guidelines for accountability, visibility, and communication, to promote and disseminate findings and best practices. • Assist in organizing and conducting trainings to FAO Yemen staff, partners and government on nutrition sensitive agriculture programming and food systems transformation. • Assist in the technical evaluation of various bids/proposals and writing detailed evaluation reports for technical clearance. • Assist in conducting coordination meetings and programme review meetings. • Contribute to the development of FAO Yemen nutrition projects and activities, plan, and processes, ensuring alignment with wider FAO nutrition policies and guidance. • Support in the preparation of the required documents for the implementation of the nutrition sensitive agriculture ToT trainings including the budgets, clearances, training materials (presentations, banners, training manuals, etc.) and training reports. • Support the monitoring of nutrition activities, review reports by implementing partners, undertake monitoring visits and follow up of issues in field to ensure timely production and submission of reports. • Support the documentation and implementation of best practices and lessons learnt. across different nutrition sensitive projects and keeps copies of all files and documents in organized and accessible folders in the unit’s shared folders. • Participate in the nutrition cluster meetings and other relevant meetings and workshops as requested by the supervisor. • Conduct other relevant project tasks as required by FAO. • Any other duties as may be requested by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

• Extensive experience in project management and capacity development in Nutrition, Agriculture, and livestock sector. • Good interpersonal skills will experience in networking with partners at all levels (ministry, NGOs and local community-based organizations). • Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing. • Proficiency in standard computer software
