ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
These jobs are found in WFP Ethiopia Addis Ababa Country Office. The Job holders report to the Head Doctor, the project Manager or the designate.
Ethiopia Medical Assistance Team (EMAT) is now in its fifth year successfully bringing primary healthcare to WFP employees and dependents in the capital and remote regions of Ethiopia. In response to the current COVID19 pandemic, the EMAT team is supporting the Country Office and Sub Offices in the response to COVID19 by promoting a safe working environment, frequently disinfection of office areas and guest houses following the WHO safety standards, body temperature monitoring and enhancing safe practices among staff are adhered to, implementing the distribution of PPEs to staff and dependants, support staff and dependents when tested positive with adequate homebased care when applicable or hospitalization when deemed relevant.
JOB PURPOSE
The Nurse/Liaison Associate will ensure the staff especial referred from sub-offices get the proper medical care in appropriate hospital, linking the hospital, patients with the insurance company and WFP admin.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive):
The EMAT Nurse/Liaison Associate duties consist of the following but not limited to:
- Liaise between staff, hospitals, insurance WFP management during staff and dependents admissions and other consultations to different hospitals.
- Coordination and receiving referral cases from sub-offices, guiding the staff and their dependents to the booked hospitals ensuring comfort and satisfaction.
- Assist head doctor with patient follow up for specific cases both in hospitals and hotel/home isolation.
- Technical management of the COVID19 screening nurses in CO and SOs ensuring all COVID19 guidelines are adhere to.
- Receiving and compiling monthly report from the nurses, conducting bi-weekly meeting and training on relevant topics including COVID19 testing.
- Distribution of COVID19 personal protective equipment, mask and sanitizers and COVID19 test kits to the nurses in CO and SOs and to staff and dependents in CO.
- Supporting COVID19 protection measures in CO including training and supervising cleaners, disinfection of offices and vehicles and other IPC activities.
- Support COVID19 UN Vaccination in CO and SOs, planning, vaccination, data input and reporting.
- Support EMAT project manager in stock taking and management and reporting in CO EMAT clinic.
- Participate is meetings as may be delegated by the head doctor or the EMAT project manager.
- Support head doctors and project manager in liaising with the various government of Ethiopian Authorities on matters related to health and EMAT including the Ministry of Health and EPHI and other UN Agencies and partners.
- Any other duty as tasked by the head doctor, EMAT project manager or admin.
- Perform other duties as required.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Co-ordination between staff, insurance and hospital during referral and admission
- Effective Technical management of the COVID19 screening nurses and reporting
- Oversight of COVID19 prevention measures, including IPC activities in CO and SOs
- Assist head doctor and EMAT project manager with designated task
- Any other task as may be allocated by head doctor, EMAT PM and admin.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: University degree or higher in Medical Education or related field of study. Additional management course is added advantage.
Experience: Six or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in medical or management position. UN or INGO experience is an added advantage.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage.
