UNESCO understands that young people embody hope for better, innovative, and more effective solutions to the world’s challenges, which align with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 2045 Vision of Indonesia. This year, UNESCO Jakarta Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS) aims to implement youth capacity building activity, the “Youth as Researchers” (hereafter “YAR”) programme. YAR aims to enhance the ability of youth to conduct quality research and thus contribute to solving current societal challenges in Indonesia. **OBJECTIVES** The main purpose of the consultancy is to coordinate the overall delivery of the 2025 Social and Human Sciences Programme on YAR programme during the project implementation period, liaising with UNESCO, implementing partners, participating universities, youth researchers, and academic advisors. Long Description ---------------- **OUTPUTS** The expected outputs from this assignment are, but not limited to, organization of online and in-person training sessions for youth participants, facilitating and leading stakeholder coordination meetings, and the dissemination of youth research outputs. The Individual Consultant shall also prepare the reporting and final project outcome documents. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Jakarta, the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Social and Human Sciences (SHS), the Individual Consultant shall: 1. Coordinate the launch event: - Liaise with UNESCO partners and university partners to coordinate the recruitment of youth participants with inclusivity and gender approaches for the YAR programme. - Liaise and deliver the event launch preparation including but not limited to development of agenda, logistical preparation, and identify suitable presenters. 2. Manage the implementation: - Contribute to the development of YAR curriculum that covers i.e the following: - Social inclusion research - Methodology and Data collection and analysis - Research science communication - Lead the coordination and ensure smooth delivery of online research trainings. - Organize and regularly update project database of participants (in line with UNESCO data and privacy guidelines). - Review the first submissions of the youth research outputs and final submissions of the research outputs and finalize project outputs in consultation with UNESCO and partners in accordance with UNESCO standards and procedures. - Coordinate the final in-person camp (“Knowledge Summit”) at a date TBC by UNESCO. 3. Support the programme reporting including financial and narrative reports as directed by the Programme Specialist for SHS. 4. Contribute to articles/write-ups for publications/websites, newsletters, press releases for youth related projects. 5. Regularly update with the latest development of the activities with regular communication via electronic means. 6. Strive for a gender-balanced approach throughout the project planning and delivery phases. Where possible, ensure gender-parity of participants and include the gender data in the list of speakers and participants. 7. Carry out and support the implementation of youth related projects as directed by UNESCO Director the SHS Programme Specialist. 8.
