This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible to monitor the implementation of Shelter/ NFI activities. The NFIs and Shelter assistant is responsible for the safe and timely implementation of Shelter and Non-Food Item programming in a safe, timely and community-based manner. This includes assessment, beneficiary selection, distribution, monitoring and evaluation of project related activities, production of internal and external narrative reports delivering quality and accountability commitments.

• Contributes towards the development of IOM’s humanitarian response strategy and leads the development of sector specific response plans and standard operating procedures for shelter and NFI. • Monitor the overall implementation of the NFI and Shelter interventions to guarantee that scope, budget, timeframe and quality are in accordance to the different project’s specifications, donor requirements and IOM rules and regulations. • Lead the design process and oversee compliance of all technical aspects of shelter and NFI interventions including assessments, and technical specification with guidance from Global Shelter & settlements, Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and NFI Support units in Geneva. • Monitor technically and administratively the whole of the NFI and Shelter team. Ensure that adequate and relevant guidance are provided to the members of the team.
• Ensure that the NFI and Shelter programmes are driven by a sound Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework that leads to continuous improvement and fine-tuning of systems and processes. • Represent IOM Shelter/NFI in all relevant forums, including cluster coordination meetings, inter-cluster meetings, and partner meetings. • Ensure that all the project data and information is archived and shared appropriately. Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Senior Program Coordinator, and report constrains and requirements for project completion.

University degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.

Proven technical and managerial level experience in shelter and NFIs intervention in emergency and conflict context;

Background in human/social studies and experience in management of structures like a shelter;

Working experience with UN agencies or international organizations in shelter and NFI programming;

Familiarity with cluster systems, various steps of project cycle and coordination with donor, local authorities, beneficiaries and other stakeholders;

Strong general computer skills, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email / Internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.

− Una suma total de entrada estandarizada al inicio de la asignación de 400 dólares para cubrir gastos de instalación en la asignación. − Un subsidio mensual de USD 1299.58 para cubrir los gastos de manutención habitual durante su asignación.
