How can you make a difference?

  • Support the National Department of Health in consolidating inputs to the different chapters from multiple stakeholders

    • Obtain all the chapters from lead writers and do standard formatting of these chapters
    • Technically support the conduct and rapporteur at the multi-stakeholder workshop and follow up with lead writers for updated chapters
    • Review the updated chapters and collaborate with the lead writers for any further updates or clarification
  • Support the National Department of Health in the finalization of the Newborn Guidelines

    • Organise and co-facilitate at a national guideline review workshop with provincial reviewers and other stakeholders
    • Consolidate inputs from the guideline review meeting and technically update the relevant chapters in collaboration with the lead writers for each chapter
    • Provide final technical inputs to the Newborn Guideline chapters including ensuring appropriate referencing
    • Liaise with the selected graphic designers and the NDOH to suggest layout and design elements to obtain a print ready copy of the guideline
    • Prepare a PowerPoint with a summary of each of the new chapters of the guideline

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A degree in Medicine, Health Sciences, Pediatrics, Public Health or Neonatology
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in providing technical support and leadership in maternal and newborn health at the National or provincial level
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in supporting national guideline development
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
