The Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) section of UNICEF China Office supports and works with programme sections on programme planning and monitoring, quality assurance of research, studies and evaluations, results reporting, data and knowledge management, in the areas including child health, education, protection and social policy. PME also works closely with counterparts and research teams on data analysis and publication to promote its utilization, and methodological work in data collection to introduce international standards.

How can you make a difference?

You will have opportunities to contribute to UNICEF China’s work in PME, at the same time to learn how the United Nations operates in China, and broaden your understanding in child development achievements, trends and challenges.

You will be expected to:

  • Assist in research and analysis on important development trends in China, in particular government strategies for addressing inequities in development.
  • Assist in knowledge management, with contributions to review and compilation of relevant reports and materials.
  • Assist in data processing, analysis and visualization based on a population survey, focusing on child demographics and education.
  • Support other tasks as required.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Be enrolled in a degree programme in an undergraduate (above 18 years old) or postgraduate study, majored in demographics, economics, statistics, education, health, development studies or related fields.
  • Have strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records, or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor.
  • Have no immediate relatives working in any UNICEF offices.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and working level English is required.
  • Be able to work in a multicultural environment.
