This is a part time consultancy in which the consultant is expected to work 10 days per month for three (3) months for a total of 30 days. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that all MHPSS activities in education are aligned with UNICEF global guidelines, best practices, and regional needs. Specific attention will be paid to: 1. Support the expansion of MENARO’s Return to School Teacher Preparedness Training Package (TPTP), specifically the module pertaining to classroom and teacher wellbeing (expansion of Module 2). 2. Support in mapping and identification of regional partners with knowledge and expertise in developing and implementing MHPSS education related programmes (LTA generation) 3. Conduct surveys and mapping of MHPSS interventions in education in the MENA region and build on/scale up successful programs in the region and provide recommendations for improvement. 4. Provide technical assistance and knowledge exchange to position and integrate MHPSS into the MENA regional education portfolio.

How can you make a difference?

n consultation with the MENARO MHPSS Task Force, the HQ MHPSS Technical Advisors, MENARO education MHPSS focal point and MENA Regional Education Advisor the consultant, will: 1. Support any follow-up actions related to the identification and vetting of institutions and entities capable of producing regionally relevant and language appropriate materials in relation to MHPSS in education as part of UNICEF’s efforts to establish long term agreements (LTAs) with institutions. 2. Support the Education Section’s decision making on positioning MHPSS within the existing MENARO Education portfolio in alignment with UNICEF’s Strategic Plan, CCCs, and Global MHPSS Multi-Sectoral Operational Framework. 3. Represent (supporting the Regional Education Advisor) the Education Section in the MENARO Cross[1]Sectoral MHPSS Task Force meetings and in Task Force organized Technical Assistance and Knowledge Exchange workshops with select countries

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• At least eight (8) years of experience with MHPSS programming in Education in humanitarian and development contexts (preferably both).

• Experience in project coordination and management.

• Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles, child safeguarding measures and established international standards in MHPSS and education.

• Strong organizational and facilitation skills whether face to face or remotely with diverse stakeholders.

• Comfortable to work independently while coordinating closely with different teams.

• Experience in creating training materials and facilitating MHPSS in Education trainings.

• Experience in MHPSS in Education research a plus.

• Full and demonstrated command of spoken and written English is essential. Arabic language proficiency preferred.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
