This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The request for the services of the UNV specialist on “Network coordination and partners collaboration” comes from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) & Gender, Equity and Human Rights (GER) unit of the Chef de Cabinet office. The unit is mandated to support acceleration of the health-related SDGs and coordinate the SDGs Global Action Plan (GAP) in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region in addition to advance the agenda on of Gender mainstreaming. This entails creation of evidence and monitoring, policy advocacy and dialogue, support the implementation of specific interventions and activities in addition to capacity building. The unit coordinates with SDGs focal persons network in WHO country offices in addition to a solid collaboration with partners in the region – the Regional Health Alliance and other stakeholders. The UNV specialist will work closely with the SDGs team as per the outlined in the task description.

Under the guidance of the Chef de Cabinet, and the direct supervision of Coordinator – Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Gender, Equity and Human Rights (GER), the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

a) Assist the Regional Health Alliance (RHA) secretariat in performing its mandate and work through: • Keeping an inventory on partners representatives, accelerator working groups leads and members contact list including meetings invitees and work updates; • Development of RHA coordination and Accelerator Working Groups meeting minutes as well as follow up with the team on the action points and implementation of the RHA joint action plan; • Support to the Accelerator Working Groups in implementation of the RHA Joint Action Plan with focus on the Gender Advisory Group; • Keeping track through the monitoring tool of meetings dates, participation, and production of analytical data; • Keeping a repository of RHA documentation, an inventory of events, innovative approaches, and related issues; • Participating in preparations of the RHA technical and annual meetings; • Participating in RHA advocacy and visibility material development in addition to the promotion of Gender, Equity and Rights cross-cutting themes.

b) Assist the SDGs / GER unit in its activities supporting the progress on the health-related SDGs and the regional SDGs focal persons’ network: • Keeping an inventory of SDGs focal persons contact list and assisting the unit in communication, sending updates, and monitoring of planned activities; • Support to the network ‘Teams’ platform including the regular update of its contents, document and reference repository, case studies, announcements, events and others; • Collation of information on the SDGs institutional setup in countries in the region and documents relating to the UN cooperation frameworks; • Development of the annual calendar of events and regular updates to members of the network; • Participate in the unit work on study review of UNSDCFs; • Engage with the SDGs / GER unit in preparations for regional committee and SDGs related functions; • Documentation of the network process development and operations and drafting the annual report of the network operations; • Any other related tasks and duties as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

public health and / or coordination and partners engagement or other relevant programmes; experience with WHO is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization. and; • Technical knowledge on the SDGs and targets is desired as well as the health-related SDGs. • Skills in coordination with partners and stakeholders is desired including networking and communication. • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4x4 over rough terrain; (if not applicable, delete) •Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in public health and progress towards the sustainable developmental goals and targets [fill in relevant area of the host agency’s work], volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
