Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. With presently 194 member states, FAO works in more than 130 countries worldwide, including Vietnam where the Organization has operated since 1978. The current Country Programming Framework (CPF) for the period of 2022 2025 has four priority areas: (1) One Health (OH); (2) Climate change response, environment and natural resources management; (3) Food safety, sustainable production and consumption, and equitable livelihoods for all; and (4) Governance, Gender and PWDs. The incumbent’s tasks will mainly contribute to the fourth priority area.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative in Viet Nam, the direct supervision of the International Senior Technical Coordinator of Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Disease (ECTAD) and in close coordination with FAO ECTAD team including national specialists and government partners to contribute to the successful implementation of the UNJP/RAS/398/EC project in the country by undertaking the following tasks and duties:

Tasks and responsibilities
• Assist in the development of the work plan for the national field survey of high-risk wildlife captive facilities/locations in Vietnam; • Develop survey tool in consultation with FAO, Viet Nam CITES Management Authority (CITES MA), International Cooperation Department (ICD) Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development (MARD) and other relevant stakeholders; • Assist in presenting the work plan and field survey plan at the National Advisory Committee (NAC) Meeting for consideration and approval; • Conduct training for members of the survey team, focusing on the animal health and welfare aspects of the field survey tool; • Conduct the surveys according to the detailed work plan agreed between the stakeholders; • Completed the data obtained from the surveys and provide technical inputs for technical report; • Participate assist in the presentation of the results and collect feedback from stakeholders (CITES MA, ICD, One Health Partnership (OHP); • Undertake other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Degree in veterinary medicine or related field; • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in collection and analysis of animal diseases information; • Excellent writing skills in both English and Vietnamese; • National of Viet Nam or a legal resident in the country.
