This position will work in a hybrid setting (in office 2-3 days a week) in our Dallas office.

Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the SVP Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for (1) guidance and oversight of monthly and annual financial close processes and preparation of financial statements, (2) maintaining and enhancing financial policies and internal control environment, (3) guidance and direction of activities to ensure compliance with financial administration of government funding, (4) staying abreast of existing and new accounting standards and ensuring effective adoption and implementation of new standards, (5) in coordination with the Director, Accounting, Government Grants and Restricted Funds collaborate with the Office of Funded Programs to coordinate financial policies for restricted and government funding, (7) assisting with coordination and support for external audit activities for consolidated audit, single audits and stand alone audits, (8) oversight of Accounting including Accounts Payable, (9) oversight of the finance function of Mission Aligned Businesses (MAB) including international accounting coordination and consolidation, and (10) supervising and mentoring staff. This position provides support to the SVP, Controller and CFO on projects and tasks as required and will work in a highly collaborative way with others across Finance and in other departments outside Finance.
- Provide oversight and guidance to the accounting and accounts payable teams including monthly and year-end financial close processes. Advise on association-wide policies and practices. Proactively assist management team with resolution of escalated issues.
- Maintain continuous focus on process improvement to identify efficiencies and/or enhancements to accounting policies and practices and internal controls. Work collaboratively and cross-functionally across Finance to ensure policies and procedures are integrated and complementary.
- Provide technical expertise and support for the interpretation and implementation of applicable accounting standards.
- Monitor and direct the activities for financial administration of government funding. Ensure policies and practices satisfy compliance with Uniform Guidance regulations and support the annual Single Audit requirements.
- In coordination with the Director, Accounting, Government Grants and Restricted Funds collaborate with the Office of Funded Programs to coordinate financial policies for restricted and government funding.
- Support the planning, organization, and coordination of the year-end close process with internal and external auditors.
- Support the exploration and implementation of a new financial system and ensure availability of subject matter experts within the accounting teams.
Qualifications
