Contract
This is a UNV Community Volunteer contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV Community Volunteer contracts.
The key results have an impact on the overall performance of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Pillar, and success in implementation of Projects strategies. Proactive Administrative to EECC programme will result accurate analysis, data entry and presentation of information ensure proper Project implementation.
Under the supervision of EECC program manager, the National Volunteer to Support on Energy for COP28 will undertake the following tasks to support to EECC projects: the UN Volunteer will:
• support the Environment, Energy and Climate Change pillar, with logistics, communication, and administrative arrangements, as well as technical duties as required in preparations for COP28, especially the drafting of the COP28 technical materials (e.g., the COP28 negotiations handbook guide). • The Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include supporting in the drafting and finalization of the COP28 negotiations handbook guide, by collecting data, preparations of reports and briefs, and follow up with counterparts, consultants, and other parties as needed. Assist in administrative and logistical arrangements for the EECC events for the COP28 preparatory events. • Collect data and prepare reports for technical documents to draft final products in preparations for COP28. Prepare meeting minutes reports for any preparatory meetings, internally or with external parties (Other UN agencies, governmental counterparts, donors, etc). • Coordinate and follow-up on logistics issues with the portfolio project officer. Perform other admin / logistic duties as required by the EECC portfolio Management. Provide technical support on the area of climate change (mitigation and adaptation) as needed. Support for the preparations and implementation of EECC plan for COP28, and provide support on the preparation and implementation of UNDP’s communication plan for COP28 as requested by Portfolio manager. • Performs other official duties and tasks which the Programme Management Specialist and office management may request.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the incumbent will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Baghdad at the UNDP office. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions
Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): All national community Volunteers are entitled to a monthly volunteer living allowance of USD 800 USD The purpose of this allowance is to cover the basic living costs of the national UN Volunteer, and her or his family when applicable. The allowance is to ensure that the volunteer can sustain a basic, adequate and safe lifestyle. The monthly allowance rate is a fixed rate for the duty station as established by UNV headquarters. Resettlement allowance: Eligible national UN Volunteers are entitled to receive a resettlement allowance upon satisfactory completion of the assignment. The allowance assists the volunteer to reintegrate into society both professionally and personally upon completion of their UN Volunteer service.
