Organizational Setting

The objective of the TCP/RER/3805 - “Enhancing analytical evidence on diet and nutrition challenges from food systems perspectives in response to COVID-19” project is to support the improvement of capacities of governments and stakeholders to implement policies to eradicate hunger, food insecurity and all forms of malnutrition by 2030.

Technical Focus

Under the overall supervision of FAOR and in close collaboration with other project members, the Nutritionist is required to lead the implementation of country-level activities under TCP project and to ensure close coordination with the national counterparts and stakeholders. With technical guidance of international experts and FAO Technical Officers, the consultant will undertake the following tasks:

Tasks and responsibilities:

For the development of national report on nutrition and food systems,

  • Support international experts in collecting and analysing secondary data on food and nutrition from official statistics and other relevant sources such as published research papers and international agencies.
  • Provide technical inputs to the national report drafted by international experts.

For the development of national Food-Based Dietary Guideline (FBDG),

  • Identify technical and institutional gaps in developing national FBDG and needs for capacity development. This will include review of relevant national policy documents, literatures, interviews with stakeholders.
  • Support the needs analysis, activity planning and capacity building of the national counterparts in developing national FBDG.

For both components

  • Maintain regular communication and ensure close coordination with national stakeholders and counterparts in project activities.
  • Where relevant, collaborate with other UN agencies in conducting related assessments and surveys.
  • Lead the preparation of national level workshops and meetings with stakeholders.
  • Review the progress and relevance of the project activities and suggest necessary actions to achieve the project goals at national level.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements:

  • University degree in nutrition, food technology, food safety, food security, health or a related field
  • At least five years’ professional experience in the area of nutrition policies and programmes
  • Working experience with government institutions, universities, research institutions, national or international agencies
  • Working knowledge of English
  • National of Azerbaijan or resident in the country with a regular work permit
