Organizational Setting

This position will be based in FAO Project office in Quetta and for FAO Representation in Islamabad. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural , fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy FAO Representative, under direct supervision of International/National Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be part of the FAO Communication team. In regular consultation and coordination with the Communications team in the Country Office, the incumbent shall ensure coherence with FAO’s corporate communication policy and operational guidelines for all communication and information outputs.

Technical Focus

• Capacity to implement National Communication Strategy and related annual and quarterly communication and visibility plans. • Sound understanding of FAO House Style Guidelines, Corporate Communications Strategy, Publication Workflow System and other guidelines so that they could be incorporated in communication product(s). • Capacity to plan, develop and execute audio-visual contents for FAO’s traditional and non-traditional platforms. • Articulate communication needs and purposes per target audience and the communication mechanisms and products, embedded with Government, professional networks, the private sector or communities. • Communication activities would focus on the outcome and outputs achieved of the FAO projects, targeting general and specific audiences at national, provincial, district and community levels, and FAO’s sphere of influence. • To support and assist Communications team in the Country Office in visibility, outreach and advocacy project.

Tasks and responsibilities

In close collaboration with OCC branches and focal points, the incumbent will:

• Implement FAO Pakistan Communications Strategy and associated action plans at provincial level. • Ensure that all major publications are submitted and cleared through FAO’s Publication Workflow System (PWS). • Introduce new and creative approaches to improve the internal and external communication at provincial level, Field Offices, and projects level; including improving communications between different sections/ departments and projects for synergizing objects and goals. • Develop a content management plan for social media and FAO Pakistan website in coordination with Communications Specialist in Country Office for visibility of projects. • Build capacity of program team members including field teams and other relevant departments on different formats of storytelling and capturing audio-visual content for FAO’s different platforms. • Recommend and carry out communication campaigns to mark international days significant to the work of FAO in Pakistan such as the World Food Day and others, and contribute to UN joint communication products and general partners (including UNIC). • Draft and assist in the preparation of talking points and speeches for FAO Representative/Provincial Heads in Pakistan including exclusive media engagements such as op-eds, TV, radio and newspaper interviews. • Supervise and provide support to vendors and firms hired for communications services. • Develop and distribute press releases, success stories, newsletters, brochures, documentaries, social media posts, publications and prominently engage in outreach and advocacy campaigns, including with local and international media. • Contribute to the development of communication products such as the publicity materials and products in close association with the multimedia artist/graphic designers and consultants (e.g. briefs, talking points, brochures, posters, power- point presentations etc.), to enhance the quality and outreach of FAO programme visibility and messaging to a diverse range of stakeholders, including general public, government of Pakistan, media, FAO headquarter and Regional office; • Maintain required communication between FAO, Donors, DOP/P&D, Green Sector Line Departments and various foreign funded projects. • Guide the regular sharing of the outputs of M&E findings with project staff, implementing partners and primary stakeholders. • Plan and manage visits to the field to collect content for various communication products such as success stories and videos. • Providing support to advancing partnership, advocacy and resource mobilization endeavors; developing and maintaining close contacts with national counterparts, donors, for the implementation of the communication and publication strategies. • Support knowledge Building and Management; strategic documentation of good practices and innovative programme endeavors in close collaboration with the programme team. • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor and FAO Communications Specialist in the Country Office. • Liaison with the Office of Communication (OCC) will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes. • All communication materials will follow FAO clearance processes and comply with FAO standards, including:

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Advance university degree in Communications, Media , Social Sciences or other related field; • At least 8 years’ experience of serving in relevant position in UN, international organizations, the non-government and/or public sector. • A working knowledge of the English language • National of Pakistan.

Basic photo and videography skills. • Working familiarity with design software like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop will be advantageous. • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams is essential.
