Overview

Assist in programme and project support in FAO

You have:

  • Minimum Secondary Education, preferably with University Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Political or Social Sciences would be desirable
  • At least 1 year of relevant working experience in programme and support work
  • Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of one of the other FAO languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian)
  • Good knowledge of the MS Office applications, Internet and office technology equipment
  • National of Jordan

Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent works under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision of Programme Officer.

Technical Focus

The incumbent plays a role in the coordination of programme/ projects support services for the department. He/ she performs a broad range of programme, planning and budgeting activities.

Tasks and responsibilities

The NPP - Programme Assistance works under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision of Programme Officer. The specific duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, the followings:

  • Collect and prepare data and (background) information in the areas of FAO’s activities in the country (agriculture, forestry, fisheries, rural / sustainable development); review and edit the information in the appropriate format.
  • Carry out tasks to facilitate the preperartion of quarterly and monthly meetings with relevant partners (i.e: WFP,IFAD).
  • Participate in writing standard operational procedures (SOPs) for relevant project activities .
  • Process reports , publications and correspondence related to the work of the unit.
  • Assist in constructing policy briefs , conducting SWAT analysis and providing recommendations in the areas of FAO`s activities in the country, with regards to National strategies.
  • Assist in preparing Project Concept Notes (CN) and Project Documents.
  • Participate in project identification by preparing supporting documentation for project concept notes and project document formulation in close coordination with the Country Programme team, ensuring synergies with other projects and lessons learnt.
  • Participate in project implementation and monitoring by preparing the work plan ,budget and the results framework.
  • Prepare background material, working papers and tables for briefings, review sessions and meetings.
  • Prepare correspondence to verify data, answer queries, and obtain additional information on operational matters, as required.
  • Carry out other specific operational tasks for programme/ project implementation as requested
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Minimum Secondary Education, preferably with University Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Political or Social Sciences would be desirable,
