**OVERVIEW** ------------ Post Number : 6ETEDPA025CB Grade : NO-C Parent Sector : Education Sector (ED) Duty Station: Addis Ababa Job Family: Field Operations Coordination Type of contract : Project Appointment Duration of contract : 1 year Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 24-JUL-2023 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism ***Duration of contract: 1 year, with possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance.*** ***Only nationals of Ethiopia are eligible to apply to this position.*** **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Education (ADG/ED), with the functional authority from the Director of the International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), and under the direct supervision of the IICBA Senior Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for providing technical expertise towards UNESCO and IICBA’s work in the area of project management and coordination, research and knowledge management, capacity building, networking, partnerships and resource mobilization to strengthen the teaching profession in Africa to address. The incumbent will be expected to provide technical expertise to African member states within the strategic areas of UNESCO and the specific mandate of IICBA for gender-equitable and inclusive education systems. S/he will specifically perform the following duties: **1. Project Coordination, Management, and Monitoring** - Coordinate the implementation of IICBA’s teacher education programs in cross cutting areas including peacebuilding, preventing violent extremism through education (PVE-E), global citizenship education (GCED), learning to live together, teachers and learner mental health and psychosocial well being, gender equality and refugee education. - Collaborate with internal colleagues to the development of IICBA’s annual work plan, monitoring benchmarks, performance indicators and budget on regular basis, and reporting in line with the overall IICBA programme results framework, priorities and strategic approaches. - Support the development of national educational frameworks for the promotion of cross cutting issues in education among which include; peacebuilding, PVE\_E, GCED, EiE and gender equality. - Work closely and collaboratively with IICBA staff, concerned Field Offices, HQ and other Category I Institutes as well as partners for strengthening the teaching profession in Africa (for the achievement of SDG4, target 4c. **2. Technical and Operational Support to Program Level, Networking, And Partnership Building** - Provide technical guidance, operational support and capacity development to Ministry of Education, Teacher Training Institutions, and Universities and other implementing partners to implement evidence based programs mainly in cross cutting areas. - Contribute to UNESCO IICBA’s involvement in the UNESCO sector offices and ,category one institutes to identify areas for improved alignment of activities on Peace education, PVE-E, ESD, GCED Gender Equality and Education for Health and Well-being. - Contribute to the coordination of UNESCO’s advocacy efforts for education for assigned areas such as ESD, GCED, Peace Education, PVE-E , Education in emergencies and Refugee Contexts, Education for Health and Well-being and Gender Equality. - Establish and sustain effective close working partnerships with relevant government counterparts, national stakeholders Global Partners, Donors, UN offices. - Participate and/or represent IICBA in conferences and meetings concerned where appropriate to promote IICBA’s agenda, mission, vision among the various forums. **3. Knowledge Management, Innovation, Research, and Capacity Building** - Coordinate interventions to generate evidence, research and experiential learning on the UNESCO focus areas such as GCED, Peace Education, PVE-E, Education for Health and Well-being and Gender Responsive Pedagogy (GRP). - Draft policy papers, briefs, training documents and other strategic programme materials for - policy advice and technical assistance to the African Member States: Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Teacher Training Institutions. - Organize and implement capacity building initiatives roll out the training guides and other e-learning courses support members states in their capacity initiatives to roll out the training guides and other e-learning courses. - Coordinate and expand networks, organize national capacity development workshops and promote knowledge sharing through online platforms, portals and other means. - Facilitate dialogue and learning exchanges on good practices and knowledge from implementation of IICBA projects and programme among partners and stakeholders. **4. Resource Mobilization** - Identify and develop opportunities to mobilize extra budgetary resources for the institute by developing concept notes and project proposals - Contribute to IICBA’s resource mobilization agenda and possible partnership to ensure sustainability of IICBA’s projects and scale-up of the achievements. **5.
