Organizational Setting:

Under the direct technical supervision of the LTO for the project GCP/TAJ/021/GFF” and in close consultation with the FAOR in Tajikistan and in coronation with the National Centre for Implementation of the Environmental Protection Actions (NC IEPA), the National Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the project implementation at national level

Reporting Lines

Under the direct technical supervision of the LTO for the project GCP/TAJ/021/GFF and in close consultation with the FAOR in Tajikistan, the National Project Coordinator will carry out the following activities:

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the overall management of the project and timely delivery of its outputs, research and training as well as other project activities and supervise the performance of national project staff;
  • Prepare a detailed annual work plan and annual budget based on the available project document and inputs collected during the inception workshop
  • Monitor day-to-day project activities in the country and international relations and travel to ensure timely delivery and efficiency of implementation, and proposing corrective actions if/when necessary;
  • Inform the international project staff and consultants on the institutions, government, research NGOs and private sector as well as national specialists involved on the project activities;
  • Assure coordination among all the staff involved in the project implementation
  • Work closely to the National Centre for Implementation of the Environmental Protection Actions (NC IEPA), responsible for the project implementation, providing them guidance on the actions and activities to be implemented
  • Ensure implementation of the project monitoring and evaluation and review reports in close collaboration with Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist;
  • Plan, organize, facilitate and report on project implementation mechanism and events by participating in meetings and communication;
  • Organize and facilitate national dialogue with all involved/invited stakeholders on formulating new agriculture policies and regulations, as advised by and in close collaboration with the international project staff and consultants;
  • Coordinate the implementation of the communication and knowledge sharing strategies and their implementation to enhance awareness and understanding of the new tools and skills in designing agriculture policies, cost-effective disease control strategies and surveillance system;
  • Initiate and facilitate information exchange and networking in the country and with international partners among relevant stakeholders, including government, non-governmental organizations and private sector stakeholders;
  • Initiate, coordinate and ensure quality and timely delivery of project information material in line with GEF rules, regulations and publications policy guidelines;
  • Initiate, coordinate and ensure quality liaison with government officials, key donor partners and other stakeholders on project activities and cooperation work;

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree(s) in economics, agriculture, natural resources, sustainable development, climate policy or related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in project management and project implementation ;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Tajik and Russian languages ;
  • Computer skills (WordPerfect, PowerPoint, Excel, Skype);
  • Nationality of Tajikistan or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
