Organizational Setting

FAO's office for Iraq is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Iraq CPF 2018-2022.. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country level. The post is located in Basra, Iraq.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Iraq, direct supervision of the Deputy FAOR, and in close collaboration with FAO Iraq team.

Technical Focus

The Project Assistant will support the implementation of TCP and other projects.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Support the implementation of activities in the South under the guidance of the project coordinators/technical team • support the project team in preparing project communication and advocacy material, ensuring projects activities and outputs are well highlighted and presented; • Support the preparation of LoAs for internal clearance to engage different service providers for the assigned project; • Participate in internal meetings, facilitate information sharing, assist in planning and coordination of internal activities; • Assist logistically the Project team in organizing meetings, trainings, seminars, committees, and events; • attend meetings as required and prepare minutes, • Provide assistance in protocol related matters, as required; • Maintain relevant information and databases on trainings, workshops, missions and seminars; • Support the office administrative and logistical actions; • Performing any other duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University degree in Economics, Finance Management, or related subject would be preferred. • At least 5 years of work experience and at least 2 years within the UN system, Government agencies, International donors or an equivalent office. • Working knowledge of English and Arabic. • Iraqi national

Technical/Functional Skills

• Knowledge of basic computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); • Project management skills; • Excellent communications skill, both orally and in writing, on technical materials for audiences at different levels of technical expertise; • Ability to work under pressure and to carry out several tasks in a timely fashion and under tight deadlines with minimum supervision; • Courtesy, tact and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
