In particular, the incumbent is responsible for providing professional, and technical support, research and analysis, with an emphasis on the national context to develop, implement and evaluate programme initiatives to promote learning and sustainable development, and support the Member State to advance the transformation of education, research and foresight to address contemporary environmental and societal challenges and build back better after the pandemic towards the implementation of the SDG4-Education 2030 Framework for Action. The incumbent shall work as part of the Interdisciplinary team in the UNESCO Windhoek Office, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and with technical guidance from Education Programme Divisions at UNESCO Headquarters and the Education Programme Specialists at the Multi-sectoral Regional Office for Southern Africa in Harare. Long Description ---------------- In this context, the incumbent will: - Provide professional, and technical support in the identification, design, planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities in the field of Education in the country in the framework of Major Programme I and in line with the Education Sector’s global and regional strategies and priorities. - Contribute to building the institutional capacity of national/local counterparts and partners. This includes the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of workplans, as well as the contribution to intersectoral programmes developed by the Office. - Articulate and propose strategies for UNESCO intervention and assistance in the field of emerging and innovative educational themes, e.g. education for sustainable development (ESD), disaster risk reducation (DRR), global citizenship education, artificial intelligence (AI), by working in teams both within the education sector and with other sector colleagues as well as identifying potential national stakeholders to work with, promoting their participation and contribution. - Ensure gender mainstreaming in education and in intersectoral activities. - Establish and maintain close contacts with the concerned national/local authorities and contribute to the development of national education policies and strategies. - Maintain strong working relations with relevant governmental bodies, education institutions, as well as pertinent intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to advance innovation and digital skills (ICTs), TVET, and other contemporary emerging educational issue, towards the overall Transformation of Education.
