The incumbent shall contribute to the preparation of the inputs for the UNESCO Medium-Term Strategy (C/4), the Programme and Budget (C/5) and related work plans from a national perspective as well as contribute to the UNSDCF (United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework) exercise in the field of culture through inter-sectorial and interagency activities. The incumbent also contributes to the implementation of initiatives related to UNESCO's Global Priorities (Africa and Gender Equality), priority groups and transversal thematic areas, such as Culture and Education, Culture and Climate Change, Indigenous Peoples, Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and Youth. Long Description ---------------- In particular, the National Professional Officer shall: - Provide technical inputs into the conceptualization, design, implementation of programme and project activities in line with the strategies and priorities of the Culture Sector. Contribute to the implementation of all UNESCO Culture Conventions and their associated protocols in the country. - Contribute to the implementation, monitoring, briefing and reporting particularly those related to the progress and evaluation of Regular Programme activities and projects funded by voluntary contributions. Contribute to the coordination and preparation of training and capacity-building activities in the field of culture. - Maintain regular relations and partnerships with national counterparts and key stakeholders (Ministries, regional and local authorities, etc.). Contribute to the implementation of the resource mobilization strategy and plans of the Culture Sector. - In line with the supervisor’s guidance, participate in joint programming exercise and in the inter-agency actions in the framework of the UN Reform and 'Delivering as One'. Maintain working relations with the concerned staff in the Field and staff in Entities/Units at Headquarters as well as other UN agencies, group and entities. - Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor(s) that may be required to ensure the success of the work team.
