Overview

Coordinate program activities and ensure effective project management

You have:

  • Master's degree in development studies, International Relations, Peacebuilding / Conflict studies, Human Rights, Political or Social Sciences is required.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in the area of program management, coordination, M&E, grants management and administration is required.
  • Proven experience in project management and coordination, with demonstrated experience in managing consortiums and/or projects with several stakeholders in politically complex and operationally challenging environments is required.
  • Proven experience in peacebuilding, transition and recovery programming, including in projects aimed at fostering reconciliation; supporting local structures and communities in the peaceful resolution of conflicts; community-based violence reduction and/or individual and community resilience in crisis or post-crisis contexts is required.
  • Experience working with Non-Governmental Organizations and UN institutions in South Sudan is desirable.
  • Knowledge of local context or previous experience working in Southern Unity Counties is desirable.
  • Strong experience in multi-stakeholder liaison, engagement and management including UN, NGO, civil society, Government institutions and local authorities is desirable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic is desirable.

Result of Service

• Coordinate team management meetings and share minutes • Planning and organizing of RSRTF project activities • Monthly progress reports shared with CAD Team Leader and donor • Quarterly progress reports that align activities to project outputs submitted to CAD Team Leader and donor • Annual and End of Project reports submitted to CAD Team Leader and donor • Liaise and coordinate with other project staff at all levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will be based in Bentiu but will undertake frequent travel to project locations within Koch County and Unity State. The incumbent will report both to the Reintegration, Transition and Protection Team leader working closely with head of units (UNPOL, Civil Affairs, Human Rights, Rule of Law and Public Information. Responsibilities Provide on the ground support and assistance to coordinate UNMISS activities identified in the Program and contribute to the achievement of project results, which may include but not be limited to: • Manage the implementation of the UNMISS activities within the Joint Program and ensure that all activities are carried out to the highest possible standard and in full compliance with commitments made to the donor as well as with the relevant UN policies, guidelines and standards. • Provide strategic and substantive guidance to the Program Staff and ensure full adherence Program approaches, activities and actions. • Initiate and maintain strong relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, Civil Affairs Division (CAD), Human Rights Division (HRD), Child Protection Unit (CPU), Gender Affairs Unit (GAU), Communication and Public Information Section (CPIS), Rule of Law and Security Institutions Section (RoLSIS) and United Nations Police (UNPOL), the Joint Program partners, government actors, Non-Governmental Organizations, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)and Community-based organizations (CBOs). • Coordinate and manage relationships with the UNMISS thematic units involved in the Joint Program as well as with the consortium partners, ensuring that an integrated, coherent approach across the consortium partners and UNMISS thematic units is maintained and strengthened throughout the project cycle. • Ensure Program alignment and linkages with government priorities and actively explore synergies with other ongoing initiatives carried out by international or national actors that can increase the impact of the Joint Program. • Coordinate with Project partners and other members of the Southern Unity Area Reference Group ensuring collaboration and complementarity. • Conduct regular field visits to Program locations to monitor progress, capture transformative change achieved through the Program and share with relevant audience • Prepare, develop and disseminate timely analytical reports including donor progress reports, and a variety of information products or proposals for internal or external use to communicate the progress and results of the project. • Oversee and backstop the operational, administrative and financial aspects of the Joint Program implementation within UNMISS. • Provide project technical support in monitoring, evaluation and reporting as well as documentation of project results, lessons learnt and challenges. • Roll out program Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (MER) system including data flow chart, M&E plan, Indicator Tracker, M&E tools, and reporting templates in line with donor requirements. • Contribute to the overall UNMISS strategies and approaches including the identification of new programme needs.

Qualifications/special skills
