OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The collaborative programme aims to support Myanmar in fast-tracking strategies to achieve the milestones and targets in alignment with the WHO "End TB Strategy" by ensuring adaptation and implementation of the global guidelines, policies and recommended tools for tuberculosis care and prevention in Myanmar. WHO Myanmar has been coordinating with all partners and funding agencies to mobilise resources as well as synergise efforts towards ending TB.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Officer (TB) and guidance by the WHO Representative to Myanmar (WR), the incumbent will:

1. Facilitate in updating policy guidelines and technical tools to support the implementation of the End TB Strategy and efforts to meet targets for tuberculosis prevention, care and control, covering the three pillars: (1) integrated, patient-centered care and prevention; (2) bold policies and supportive systems; and (3) intensified research and innovation.

2. Support WHO TB team in NTP, Naypyidaw, and technical focal point (NTO) in Yangon to assist NTP for collection, analysis, dissemination and use of tuberculosis data and monitor the national tuberculosis situation and response, including disaggregated analyses (e.g. by age, sex and location) that allow assessment of within-country inequalities and equity.

3. Monitor the progress of TB prevention, control and care among high risk and hard to reach populations with particular attention on Greater Mekong sub-Regional project on TB in migrants and assist NTP to produce and submit a periodic report of the project.

4. Attend TB coordination meetings with NTP and partners in Naypyidaw on behalf of WHO as a leading technical organization.

5. Collaborate with other teams of WHO to take part in meetings in Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS) on their behalf when required.

6. Take part in, and carry out, other relevant duty required under the guidance of MO (TB) and WR.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Medicine Desirable: Master's degree for public health or any relevant field such as MSc in epidemiology, health economic or disease control. Epidemiological analytical skill.

Experience

Essential: At least two (2) years of relevant experience

Skills

  • Expertise in public health, program management in TB control and care.
  • Good understandings in health related project management in Myanmar.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Good knowledge on WHO TB Strategy.
  • Good skills and knowledge on TB epidemiology and/or health policy

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 26,662 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
