OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To reduce childhood morbidity and mortality attributable to vaccine preventable diseases and achieve immunization targets through implementing routine immunization and supplementary immunization activities, expanding immunization beyond infancy, and introducing new and under utilized vaccines with ensuring equitable access of all communities and individuals to vaccines of assured quality.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform the following duties: Provide technical advice to low coverage countries for developing and implementing locally suitable strategies and plans of action for improving access to and uptake of immunization services for hard to reachand chronically under-reached populations Conduct periodic review of immunization programmes, identify gaps and missed opportunities for vaccination and support developing plan of action to addressthem.Provide technical support and guidance for immunization data collection, data analysis, interpretation and using the data for identifying gaps in immunization services Develop relevant training material and conduct training activities to relevant staff on appropriate strategies for delivering immunization services to hard-to-reach populations Collaborate with the partners and stakeholders to harmonize recommendations on policies,strategies, planning and implementation of activities related to strengthening immunization systems in countries with large number of unvaccinated children.Provide technical support for planning and implementation of measles/rubella supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs). Support implementation and monitoring of measles case-based laboratory surveillance. Perform other related duties as required or instructed,including provision of support to other areas of work and teams within the department, as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University Degree in Medicine, Public Health or any health related science. Desirable: Master's degree inMedicine, Public Health or health-related science.Training in data management and/or EPI-related field.

Experience

Essential: At least 5 years of relevant work experience in strengthening immunization programmes at national level.Field experience in developing EPI operational plans, strengthening immunization programmes in low coverage countries. Desirable: Experience in immunization data analysis, interpretation using data for action.

Skills

Excellent knowledge in analyzing vaccine preventable diseases and EPI-related data, synthesizing information and presenting clear and concise conclusions and recommendations for decision making. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, methodology and techniques of planning of immunization programmes at senior level Excellent capacity for conducting training and advocacy

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at LYD 49,944 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
