OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

One of the key dimensions of the GPW 13 output reporting using Balanced Scorecard is impactful integration of gender, equity and human rights. This is a cross-cutting area that plays a crucial role in the implementation of the joint WHO and MOH Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS), aligned with national priorities, regional flagships and the SDGs. To do this, WHO Country Office commits to create an enabling environment for GER, builds its staff capacity and promote organizational change to actionable mainstreaming of GER in our work. The role of strategic communication and advocacy is recognized in effectively fulfilling WHO's mandate of promoting the highest possible level of health as a fundamental human right.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the general supervision of the WHO Representative for Sri Lanka, and day-to-day supervision of the Public Health Administrator, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Mainstream gender, equity and rights activities in WCO programmatic work and act as the Focal Point for Gender, Equity & Rights

2. Identify opportunities to promote GER activities, develop staff capacity and increase visibility of WHO in Sri Lanka

3. Support WHO'S efforts to collect, analyze and report disaggregated data to identify barriers for GER mainstreaming, including gender equality in the organization

4. Work with the Communications Team on strategic communications and provide inputs and content on GER.

5. Perform any other duties, as assigned by the supervisor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Bachelor's degree in social/health sciences, communication, marketing or a related field Desirable: Post-Graduate Degree on mass communications, public health, social sciences, or related field; training in social media/ online communication

Experience

Essential: At least one (1) year work experience in the field of Gender, Equity and Rights, communication, social marketing and/or health promotion Desirable: - Knowledge of global health and national health development issues

- Knowledge of video editing software Adobe Premiere / Final Cut Pro, other design software or similar are assets. Experience in advocating for gender, equity and rights.

Skills

1. Knowledge and advocacy skills on gender, equity and rights

3. Good networking and public relations capacity

4. Creativity and innovation in communication, including experience on use of social media in health

Desirable: Knowledge of WHO programmes is an asset

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at LKR 3,703,938 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
