Position Title: National Professional Officer

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to formulate, evaluate and implement WHO Country Support Plan linked to GPW3 that are aligned with Iran's health development agendas that aims to increase access to safe, effective, high-quality and affordable essential medicines and health technologies.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

1. Undertake close follow up with the Ministry of health and Medical Education and other partners on the proper and timely implementation of the AMT programme activities.

2. Participate in the planning, formulation, implementation, monitoring of medicine and health technologies supply chain activities and stock management and distribution.

3. Prepare reports of meetings with the national counterpart and other stakeholders in relation to access to medicine and health technology.

4. Work closely with WHO team and MOHME on quality control and assurance systems for procurement, supply chain management, distribution and storage.

5. Maintain records of requests, correspondences, and activities taking place in the targeted areas. Submit regular reports on reviewing situation of the country for access to medicine and technology.

6. Maintain regular contact and Communicate with EMRO, MOHME, FDA for information sharing and advices for next steps.

7. Conduct situational analysis and make recommendations on actions to be taken to improve management of medicine and health technologies in health care facilities in compliance with WHO standards and guiding documents.

8. Represent WHO in meetings and relevant missions as appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in medicine, pharmacy or related pharmaceutical sciences. Desirable: Specialized training in regulation of medical products, emergency management, international aid or humanitarian principles.

Experience

Essential: One year of relevant experience in the area of essential medicines. Desirable: Experience in national medicines policies, medicine supply systems, and regulation of medical products.

Skills

1-Excellent communication and drafting skills.

2- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively.

3- Understand challenging and multidisciplinary settings.

4- Good knowledge of international quality standards.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 31,200 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
