OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health and development agendas, and harmonized with the United Nations country teams.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Contribute towards the development of procurement plans and processes ensuring compliance with wider procurement policies and WHO standards. 2. Support or manage procurement programs and operational activities, (e.g. issue tenders, evaluate offers and negotiate/award contracts), following standard processes to contributing to successful procurement of medicines, medical equipment and services. 3. Track and analyze data to provide recommendations for process improvement. 4. Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reports of procurement activities, to contribute to a WHO wide view that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders, leading to performance optimization. 5. Collate information and draft appropriate responses and recommendations to support auditing of procurement activities and ensure conformity with compliance rules. 6. Guide and supervise junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries. 7. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WHO is able to quickly respond and deploy needed goods and services to affected areas at the onset of the crisis. 8. Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required meeting emergency medical assistance needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Transport, Economics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Business Management, or other related field. Desirable: Master degree in Transport, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or other related field.

Experience

Essential: At least one year relevant experience in the area of procurement and / or supply/ logistics. Desirable: Un experience.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 22,983 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
