How can you make a difference?

Community radio has proven to be an effective medium of information dissemination to communities across the country, in languages and formats people know, and on platforms they have access to. To ensure people across all the target municipalities have access to information on child protection and prevention of violence, UNICEF seeks the services of an individual consultant that has the required skills and experience to produce:

  • 6 (six) high-quality radio spots (each runs for 60-90 seconds) to support the implementation of the EU-UN Timor-Leste Spotlight Initiative’s violence prevention actions, and
  • 6 (six) high-quality radio spots (each runs for 60-90 seconds) to support the implementation for the Community-based Child Protection Strategy (CBSCPS) to prevent and response to violence against children. The radio spots will be used as awareness raising and advocacy tools.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:

  1. Develop community radio spots concept around the themes listed above, in close collaboration with UNICEF’s Communication and Child Protection teams.
  2. Develop, revise, and finalize the scripts for 12 (twelve) radio spots focusing on the key messages that had been identified in close communication with UNICEF and GoTL.
  3. Translate the 12 scripts into Tetun, Mambae, Kemak, Bunak and Naueti
  4. Produce 12 radio spots (including studio production, voice over, voice usage and library music, editing and post-production). The duration for each of the radio spots must be between 60 to 90 seconds.
  5. Provide final, broadcast friendly, translated and comments incorporated radio spots. This component should include confirmation from community radio stations (in each target municipalities) that the translation of the scripts is using terminology and language that are easily understood by populations in the target communities.

DELIVERABLES:

  1. 1 (one) concept note* of the radio spot
  2. 6 (six) scripts in English (prevention)

    6 (six) scripts in English (CBCPS)

  3. Translations* of scripts in Tetun, Mambae, Kemak, Bunak and Naueti

    *in digital format

  4. 12 radio spots (in WAV format)
  5. 1 (one) written and signed declaration from the Editor-in-Chief of community radio stations in Ermera, Bobonaro, and Viqueque. (at least ONE from each of the 3 municipalities)

    12 finalized radio spots.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Demonstrated experience in awareness campaigning on prevention of VAWG in Timor-Leste
  • Proven capacity to develop and execute successful, impactful and culturally sensitive radio spots on issues of VAWG and its root causes.
  • Demonstrated experience of communicating with various target audience in the rural communities of Timor-Leste
  • Preference will be given to consultant who will be able demonstrate their capacity and experience, as well as properly trained to be working with children
  • Proficiency in English language is required
  • Proficiency in local vernaculars such as Mambae, Kemak, Bunak, Naueti are advantageous
