Digital engagement plays an important role in UNICEF's work to drive change for children. Creating effective content for digital and social channels to build support for the cause of children, engage with audience’s through dialogue and audience generated content, allow individuals to connect directly with other individuals or groups, as well as UNICEF and its cause for children.

In order to use digital communication platforms more effectively that will increase digital brand engagement UNICEF in North Macedonia is looking to establish a roster of vetted multimedia content curators to provide services on a need’s basis. The multimedia content created through the consultants will be used to support UNICEF public advocacy and communication purposes and to be used by UNICEF’s internal and external partners, including other UN Agencies and across various digital and social media platforms.

How can you make a difference?

Working with the UNICEF Communication team, consultants on roster will assist UNICEF in North Macedonia in the (1) development and production of multimedia content (including infographics, to increase reach & engagement of audiences on digital and social media channels, (2) provide support to UNICEF volunteer Young Reporters to build their capacities in producing multimedia content web-related

activities, including graphic design images and simple video collage of photos and video material recorded on mobile phones; (c) provide support to adapt global multi-media assets [images, videos] into local languages.

DELIVERABLES:

Multi-media content curator will be engaged on a needs base throughout the roster period through request for services. Based on the specific brief the consultant will be required to provide services including:

• Edit and produce social media videos with material filmed using mobile phones.

• Graphic design social media assets including infographics and other visual assets using archive photographic images, videos and other available resources for social media.

• Training package on digital content creation developed and delivered to volunteer young reporters and partners as requested

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE ROSTER

It is expected that the consultants will remain on roster for 24 months from 1 October - 2021-to 1 October 2023.

DUTY STATION

Assignments will be primarily linked to UNICEF’s work in North Macedonia; on rare occasions consultants on roster may be engaged by UNICEF office’s in other countries and other UN agencies.

OFFICIAL TRAVEL

Some travel outside of Skopje, may be required. UNICEF will cover related travel and transport costs as per local UN policy. All travel will be subject to approval before travel is conducted.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Proven knowledge and skills in digital content creation as it relates to building support to child rights, human rights and sustainable development goals
  • At least 2 years of experience in social media management, and digital content creation
  • Fluency in written and spoken in English and at least one following languages [Macedonian or Albanian] is essential.
  • Proficient knowledge of graphics programs, publishing, and editing software.
  • Experience developing compelling content to generate response from audiences online
  • Experience in developing and delivery training to various groups to develop graphic design, video editing, filming high quality content with mobile phone.
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently within deadlines and under pressure
  • Well organized and structured, good attention for detail
  • Initiative, passion and commitment to UNICEF's mission
  • Ability to interact and engage with children and understanding of child rights. As well ability to interact and sensitively engage with members of vulnerable or discriminated groups in the society, persons with trauma, refugees, migrants, victims of trafficking and/or abuse.
  • Technical ability and skill to conceal the identity of the subject where necessary, and still produce effective and strong communications materials.
  • General understanding of human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals – Agenda 2030.

PAYMENT TERMS

Payments will be based on deliverables and will be made in local currency, upon delivery and UNICEF satisfactory review of services as specified in the Terms of Reference. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs are incomplete, or not delivered for failure to meet deadlines.

SELECTION CRITERIA

All proposals will be assessed first on their technical merit and subsequently on price. The proposal with the best overall value, composed of technical merit and price, will be recommended for approval.

Technical Evaluation Criteria*

  • Quality of portfolio - 50 max points

  • Experience and qualification including equipment owned/to be used on assignment - max 10 points

  • References - max 10 points

*Applications which will receive a minimum of 50 points in the technical evaluation will be considered further for financial proposal evaluation

  • Financial proposal - max 30 points

Required documents to be uploaded when applying:

  • A curriculum vitae (individual) and Motivation letter;

  • Portfolio with links to samples of content curated for social media, including graphic design, simple animated videos, and other social media and digital content. o 5 videos with description of the role of consultant {eg. Example of video filmed and edited; example of video edited but filmed by other; example of video filmed but edited by other);

  • overview of equipment owned/to be used during assignment;

  • and three written references.

Financial proposal in Macedonian Denars, Gross amount based on the following:

  • Hourly rate for content creation.

  • Daily rate for digital content curated.

  • Daily rate for preparing and conducting capacity development initiatives conceptualizing and producing engaging digital content including training in graphic design, simple video editing and basic animation.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
