The consultant will support UNICEF and its partners for updating and implementing M&E systems, timely and effective reporting and monitoring that lead to improved program quality, accountability and reporting and system building for effective implementation of EPR,DRR and CEE programme.

How can you make a difference?

DRR and Emergency Section plays a key role in overall coordination, information management and reporting related to COVID-19 response, Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) and Child Centered DRR assistance at federal, provincial- especially province 2, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim and local levels. Considering the ongoing COVID 19 situation and need to continue providing EPR and DRR mainstreaming support to the province and local level, DRR and Emergency section needs to hire a consultant for the technical support on information management, monitoring and reporting to ensure effective programme in 2021.

The major tasks of the consultant are;

The Information Management, Documentation and Reporting consultant will provide technical assistance to the Local Level Coordination Section, Federal Affairs Division of Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration to achieve the following tasks:

I. Strengthen the monitoring system (monitoring framework, data collection tools and results reporting) of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), CCDRR programme, Climate Energy and Environment programme and emergency preparedness and response works.

II. Support for the baseline survey of JoA funded air pollution programme.

III. Support the implementing partners (such as Nepal Red Cross and municipalities) for establishing and maintaining effective monitoring and reporting mechanism.

IV. Provide capacity building support to implementing partners on results-based monitoring, reporting and information management system.

V. Analyze updates/reports from the field and feed into various information and knowledge products including SitReps and donor reports

VI. Contribute to the overall COVID 19 monitoring system led by Planning Section.

VII. In coordination with sections and field offices, draft the following reports, maintaining quality and meeting the reporting deadlines (Consolidated Emergency Report (CER) including two pagers

and case studies; Thematic reports; Donor reporting including human interest stories)

VIII. UNICEF input to United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF report outcome 3)

IX. DRR inputs to Strategic Monitoring Questions (SMQs), Result Assessment Module (RAM) and Country Office Annual Report (COAR).

X. Lead the information management related to COVID-19 and other emergency response and recovery work of UNICEF Nepal.

XI. Gather relevant information, analyze them and consolidate the inputs for the Situation Report (SitRep) of Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA), UN Residence Coordinator’s Office (RCO), and Provincial updates.

XII. Provide necessary guidance and support to UNICEF led cluster information management officers to produce various information and knowledge products including timely input to SitReps, cluster updates, infographics and 3Ws and 4Ws.

XIII. Coordinate with RCO Information Management Focal point and also represent UNICEF Nepal at Inter agency Information Management Working Group (IMWG).

XIV. Support and liaison with field offices to provide inputs for social media and website updates related to DRR, emergencies and climate change programmes.

XV. Support for identification, documentation and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned.

XVI. Support for document management in SharePoint and Teams Sites.

Duration of the contract:

The total duration of the consultancy is 11 months tentatively starting from 15 February 2021.

14 Jan 2022 To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Masters' degree in Social science, Disaster Risk Management or relevant field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum five years’ experience required on information management, monitoring and reporting.
  • Should have sound knowledge on data analysis, and information management.

    • Experience in gathering qualitative data/information , analysis and reporting

    • Excellent communication , analytical and writing skills,

    • Experience working in emergencies, and working with the cluster system.

    • Prior UNICEF and UN experience will be preferred

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
