Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

Health technical support to the Central Equatoria health program including planning, implementation, coordination, and supportive supervision of COVID vaccination and other Health interventions.

Scope of Work:

Based in Juba, this role supports health emergency and resilience building activities throughout Central

Equatoria State

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Intervention management, monitoring and delivery of health outputs including:

  • Training of government and other partners for increased capacity to deliver routine and supplementary immunization and to respond to health emergencies.
  • Capacity building of frontline health and community workers to provide flexible, integrated services for the management of common childhood illnesses to young children in targeted emergency and non-emergency settings.
  • Capacity building of frontline health and community workers to provide quality, essential maternal and neonatal care (including PMTCT and CMR) to pregnant women/girls and babies in emergency and non-emergency settings.

Support to program development and planning: Participate in the UNICEF field office strategic program discussions for the coming year and programming period.

Scope of Work:

Based in Juba, this role supports health emergency and resilience building activities throughout Central Equatoria State.

Work Assignment Overview

Training of government and other partners for increased capacity to deliver routine

and supplementary immunization and to respond to health emergencies.

  • Health workers trained on immunization practice, effective vaccine management and
  • Vaccine accountability monitoring.
  • All 6 counties successfully implement NIDs/SNIDs and reach 80% coverage.
  • Joint support supervision conducted in 6 counties.
  • State and county health departments supported to develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • New county Cold chain stores and Health facilities installed with Solar Vaccine fridges.
  • Monitor vaccine stock level at state, county and health facility level and ensure stock reports are shared to national level on monthly basis

Improvement of frontline health and community workers have improved capacity to provide flexible, integrated services for the management of common childhood illnesses to young children in targeted emergency and non-emergency settings.

  • Long lasting insecticide treated nets distributed to households.
  • Joint support supervision on Boma health initiative.

Improved capacity of frontline health and community workers have improved capacity

to provide quality, essential maternal and neonatal care (including PMTCT and CMR) to

pregnant women/girls and babies in emergency and non-emergency settings.

  • Community health workers trained on HIV counselling and testing, Health Education, defaulter tracing and data management in Juba and Yei counties.
  • Joint mentorship sessions conducted for MNH/HIV health providers.

UNICEF Program development and planning.

  • Technical input in the monthly State level fora.
  • 2022 health annual workplan for Central Equatoria at end year.
  • Mapping of health services coverage updated for 2021.

Minimum Qualifications required:

University degree in Medicine, Social Sciences, Health, Public Health, Family Health, Child Development, Nursing, Bachelors’ Degree in Public Health and Health Promotion, Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Public Health or a field relevant to international development assistance in Immunization and Child Survival and Health Care.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

  • Five years of relevant professional work experience. Experience working in the UN or other international development organization.

Field work experience.

  • Experience in knowledge management.
  • Training and experience in Primary health Care, or Immunization/health care.

Language Requirements:

English

Payment Schedule

Payment will be done monthly upon delivery of key task and submission of all necessary reports as stipulated in the detailed Terms of Reference.
