Following the political shift in Afghanistan in August 2021, the Afghanistan Education Development Partners Group (Ed-DPG) and the Education Cluster facilitated the development of the Afghanistan Education Sector Transitional Framework (AESTF) to foster a clear operational framework to guide education programming and funding decisions for a transitional period of two years until December 2023. In February 2022, Global Partnership for Education acknowledged that the fragile and conflict-affected states principles were invoked. Taking cognizance of the ever-evolving context in Afghanistan and the absence of a recognized government, the SCG specifically supports capacity strengthening to the sector situation analysis with gender and equity lenses, educational planning review, sector coordination, and monitoring and evaluation of the AESTF. UNESCO is seeking to hire National Gender Officer to oversee the gender roles of the project in collaboration with the implementing partners and donors. Long Description ---------------- **Main duties and responsibilities:** Under the overall supervision of the Head of Education and direct supervision of SCG project manager UNESCO office in Kabul, National Gender Officer will be responsible for providing technical support by ensuring that all interventions are assigned a Gender Marker to all outputs ensuring that the respective minimum requirements with regard to gender is fulfilled, and that the project is as gender responsive as possible. Long Description ---------------- - Liaising with UNESCO HQ and Regional Gender Inclusion Specialist to ensure the project meets gender operational standards. - Providing advice and support to the project team in the implementation of the key gender components across the project. - Analyzing and ensuring the interventions are sensitive to issues of inclusion of gender and equity dimensions. - Supporting in updating and sharing with staff recent developments and knowledge tools in the area of gender. - Liaising with key national and internationals stakeholders, key domestic political and civic actors, civil society organizations, international NGOs, UN partners and donors in the Afghanistan to facilitate and enhance contribution towards the implementation of the gender equality agenda. - Provision of inputs on the project reports with emphasis on gender lens.
