Organizational Setting:

FAO Representative in Madagascar, to Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles.

As part of the post-Covid 19 recovery FAO is supporting the government of the Seychelles in building the resilience of small-scale farm producers through the project “Assistance on resilience building and sustaining livelihoods of small farmers in the post-COVID 19 era in the Seychelles”. FAO would like to hire services of a National Consultant to implement specific project tasks.

Reporting Lines:

The national consultant will work under the general supervision of the FAOR in Madagascar, to Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles, the direct supervision of the Deputy FAO Representative, the technical guidance of the project Lead Technical Officer (LTO), under supervision of the national coordinator and in close collaboration with the national project assistant.

Tasks and responsibilities

The consultant will undertake the following activities to provide technical and functional support to the project “Assistance on resilience building and sustaining livelihoods of small farmers in the post-COVID 19 era in the Seychelles – TCP//SEY/3801”.

  • Review and analyse existing official food and nutrition security information (secondary data), and design qualitative and quantitative data collection tools as part of the assessment methodology;
  • Develop the scope of the monitoring tool in terms of data collection, analysis and dissemination methodology, including the plan for testing and piloting of the tools.
  • Provide technical support to the data collection team in terms of training and field operations.
  • Support the collect of database on school gardens (information on nutrition education for children and parents of students).
  • Participate on the development for the action plan integrating food and nutrition security and concrete actions to be carried out by the local committees
  • Support the establishment of an adequate and simplified information system making it possible to know the food security situation and vulnerability in the intervention areas before, during and after crisis.
  • Perform any other related duties as required

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Economics, Social Science, Agriculture, Business Administration or Information Management;
  • 10 years’ experience in management of Agriculture Information;
  • Experience working in the Ministry of Agriculture, National Bureau of Statistics or other government agencies working in field of agricultural information
  • National of Seychelles or resident in the country with a regular work permit.

  • Ability to collaborate and exchange with institutional authorities is a plus
