Organizational Setting

FAO/NACA organized a regional consultation workshop on Blue Transformation in Aquaculture. There were 15 country members of NACA including Indonesia representing in the meeting and shared the information on current aquaculture activities and priority areas in the countries. The information formed a basis for development of regional Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) entitled “Support to upscaling and adoption of innovations and good practices for sustainable intensification of aquaculture in Asia”. In Indonesia, FAO will be working closely with the Directorate General of Aquaculture of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) for the implementation of the project.

Reporting Lines

The National Expert on Business Innovation Development will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Indonesia, the direct supervision of the AFAOR for Programme and in close collaboration with RAP Aquaculture Officer (Lead Technical Officer (LTO)).

Technical Focus

The National Expert will responsible to support the project from the socio-economics point of view.

Tasks and responsibilities

The National Expert will carry out the following tasks:

• Collect background information and related business profile of the target beneficiaries and identify the supply chain and its market actors. • Assess the financial feasibility of the feed manufacturing business of target beneficiaries and conduct sensitivity and risk analysis. • Develop a business model and provide advice on market and financial aspects for further expansion of the target beneficiaries business. • Assess market potential and investment direction, strategies and actions at national level for promotion of small feed manufacturing business and adoption of innovations and good practices at scale. • Provide recommendations on any government policy changes needed to support scaling of the small-scale feed manufacturing business innovation. • Support the initial set up of cooperative in the project site. • Support the development of hand-on training materials and training on entrepreneurship for small-scale feed manufacturing businesses. • Support the development of advocacy material of the business to promote upscaling the small-scale feed manufacturing business innovation and investment for related stakeholders in the project site including small-scale feed manufacturers, start up, financial institutions • Support on the organization and presentation of findings of the national final workshop and regional final workshop. • Provide technical inputs and support relevant to the Indonesian context for the development of regional guidance document on innovation and investment by FAORAP. • Prepare the draft report of all related activities as well as technical reports on specific and related activities including Back To Office Report and End of Assignment Report.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• A recognized post graduate degree in socio-economics, business development and/or other related subjects. • At least ten years research and practical experience in business development. • Working knowledge of English and Indonesian. • National of Indonesia or a legal resident in the country with a valid work permit.
