Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

The purpose of the assignment is to support development of handbook on arranging student practice in preschools for students of bachelor level early childhood education programmes in state universities.

Scope of Work:

The consultancy envisions: (i) developing draft outline of the handbook and finalizing it with consultation with universities and selected practice sites (preschools); (ii) developing first full draft of the handbook; (iii) conducting 3 focus groups with preschools and universities on the major topics and arrangements as discussed in the draft handbook. (iv) Revising and finalizing the handbook based on focus group outcomes. (v) Facilitating series of workshops jointly for universities and target preschools in Akhaltsikhe, Batumi and Telavi. Consultancy duration is three months starting from 20 August until 20 November, 2021.

Location : Home based. In November the consultant will have to travel to Akhaltsikhe, Batumi and Telavi to conduct workshops with university teams and preschools

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

  • Master's degree in Education, Education Management, Early Childhood Education and Care
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the field of ECE • At least 3 years of experience in higher education institution • Experience with supervising student practice in educational institutions, preferably preschools or early intervention services. • Experience in conducting focus groups, trainings or workshops • Proficiency in Georgian • Good working knowledge of English

Remarks****:

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered "staff members" under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF's policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
