Key Responsibilities:

To provide visionary and strategic leadership for the development and implementation of all aspects of World Vision's ministry in Thailand to ensure high impact, cost effective and quality ministry with the highest levels of accountability. Working closely with the WVFT Board of Directors and World Vision East Asia Regional Leader, she/he will lead strategy development and execution, ensuring WVFT's operating model maintains focus on Child Wellbeing outcomes, maximizing impact in the field while maintaining efficiency and driving continuous improvement as a wise steward of entrusted resources.

The National Director will model Christ-centred servant leadership and build effective strategic relationships and alliances to develop WVFT as a trusted partner of choice to acquire and optimize resources for the greatest impact for Thailand's most­ vulnerable children and communities. She/he will lead organisational transformation, with a focus on strengthening critical capabilities required by a self-sustaining office fully responsible for its funding. This will involve inspiring staff to live out WVFT's organizational values, support its Christian identity, and foster a culture that embraces diversity, collaboration, agility, and innovation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and strengthen organizational culture and performance.

  • Demonstrate Christ-centred servant leadership with staff and partners.
  • Model WV's Core Values in life, words, actions, and deeds, inspiring others to follow, and providing spiritual guidance to help staff understand and support WV's Vision, Mission & Objectives, and Christian identity.
  • Promote World Vision's Vision, Mission, Core Values, and key Partnership Standards and Practices among the staff and partners and ensure these are the core foundation of /the office/ strategies and work.
  • Ensure that the staff are equipped and encouraged to implement programmes that are appropriate to the religious context of the country without compromising World Vision's identity, core values, and principles.
  • Lead in ways that create an organizational culture where difference and diversity are welcomed, relationships are open and trustworthy, and continuous learning and improvement are embraced.
  • Work closely and positively with the Board as the Board provides spiritual, strategic, fiduciary, and generative leadership to the organisation ensuring that the National Office functions in a complementary, sensitive, and cohesive manner where the core values, principles of interdependence and twin citizenship guide the contribution made to the Partnership and the use of World Vision Partnership resources.
  • Work closely with the WVFT Board Chair and Board Directors to discern, plan and operationalise all aspects of Board governance, including Board structure, systems, recruitment, meetings, orientation, development, and succession
  • Lead and develop effective strategic relationships and engagement with external partners and WV's regional and global offices.

  • Ensure the effective performance, collaboration, and development of the Senior Leadership Team, including leadership succession.

Increase and diversify funding portfolio for organisational sustainability.

  • Provide strategic leadership and initiative for identifying and securing financial resources to support programming and its sustainability, demonstrating boldness, proactivity, and desire to innovate.
  • Ensure the development and execution of a Ministry fundraising strategy that increasingly leverages digital technology and builds organizational sustainability.
  • Provide strategic leadership in creating new opportunities and developing innovative solutions to ensure excellent donor experience and optimization of all resources.
  • Promote and establish WVFT as the NGO of choice for individuals, churches, institutions, and corporations in giving for child wellbeing.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and alignment between operations/programming and resource development for coordinated and aligned products.

  • Sourcing best practices and strategic services available Partnership-wide, being aware of and applying relevant innovative approaches.

Achieve Operational and Stewardship Excellence

  • Lead and champion the design and execution of the country strategy through programme and organizational development approaches and operating plans with clear, measurable short-term and long-term targets.
  • Ensure the organisation and Board are equipped to optimise risks toward achieving country strategy through a robust enterprise risk management (ERM) policy, framework, and monitoring mechanism.
  • ### Ensure the maintenance and regular review of security and safety plans and
  • ### protocols and ensuring understanding and compliance by all staff and visitors.
  • Ensure effective stewardship and accountability of World Vision resources, finances, and people, consistent with performance standards established by the Board of Directors and compliant with all relevant requirements.
  • ### Ensure key organizational capabilities are developed and sustained through
  • ### alignment of organizational structures, systems/processes, workforce, and incentives.
  • Ensure structure, budget a,nd systems are working effectively so resources support the Ministry and are managed efficiently and on time for desired impact on child wellbeing.
  • Develop and maintain organizational capability to mitigate and respond to natural and man-made emergencies.
  • Promote and model a high level of transparency, integrity, and a culture of agility and continuous learning and improvement.
  • Promote and ensure effective organizational risk-management practices and culture in planning and execution.
  • Ensures strong financial partnership compliance through timeliness and completeness of financial and operational reports.
  • Ensures efficient and effective organizational practices that result in successful financial and operational audit ratings.

Model and strengthen partnering, advocacy and tw****i****n-citizenship

  • Build proactive and effective strategic relationships and partnerships with relevant stakeholders (government, public, churches, I/NGOs, UN agencies, corporations) for advocacy, trust & credibility building, donor opportunities, support for programmes, innovative solutions, and learning.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of appropriate advocacy strategies and approaches.
  • Act as a representative, spokesperson, and advocate to ensure WV and the child well-being agenda are promoted appropriately, organization trust and brand are promoted and protected and WVFT is positioned as a leading local NGO.
  • Contribute to Partnership life and unity, seeking to understand and utilize Global and Regional strategic services and innovative approaches, and sharing best practices and learning with the Partnership.
  • Champion increased and enriched connections between children, communities and supporters for an increasingly vibrant, authentic and engaging experience among them.

Grow workforce and organizational capability.

  • Lead in a way that models and supports the growth of the mindsets and behaviours required for WV to transform and be successful (unity, diversity and trust, timely truth-telling with love, looking outwards, wise stewardship).
  • Ensure strategic workforce planning to proactively adapt to future organizational priorities and needs.
  • Champion and intentionally grow field-office leadership and staff capability and the development of Talent Management & Succession Planning culture and practices.
  • Champion and contribute to staff engagement and development activities.
  • Contribute to the development of regional and global talent pipelines by identifying, nurturing and supporting opportunities for top talent to grow.
  • Lead and manage organizational changes in a way that ensures staff feel engaged, involved and valued Safeguarding policies and protocol are applied.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

  • 10+ years of strategic organizational leadership experience in a dynamic environment: e.g. either senior leadership experience in the humanitarian aid sector OR C-suite experience with P&L responsibility.
  • Demonstrated deep commitment and ability to live out WV's core values in their leadership and drive the organization's Mission.

  • A clear passion and heart for serving the most vulnerable.

  • Strong understanding of the cultural and socio, political, and economic context in Thailand
  • Successful track record in working with external stakeholders and fund-raising.
  • Successful track record in governance, including effective engagement with Boards.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication skills, including in external engagement contexts.
  • Demonstrated financial management capability.
  • Proven track record in leading organizational change, adapting well to ambiguity and complex situations, and growing high-performing teams and individuals.
  • Successful track record in enabling and implementing innovative approaches, culture, and solutions.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification.

  • Post-graduate qualification (Master preferable) in of the following areas: Business Administration, Marketing, International Development, Education, Social Sciences, Child Development, Social Work, or Public Policy.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of: Local and regional humanitarian context and trends, including donor interests and opportunities
  • Transformational/holistic development approaches

  • Previous experience serving as CEO of a for-profit organization or as Executive Director/Country Director of a non-profit

Travel and/or Work Environme****nt Requirement:

25% domestic travel, occasional international travel

Physical Requirements:

Can travel internationally and travel long-distance by road

Fluent in Thai and English
