Following the political shift in Afghanistan in August 2021, the Afghanistan Education Development Partners Group (Ed-DPG) and the Education Cluster facilitated the development of the Afghanistan Education Sector Transitional Framework (AESTF) to foster a clear operational framework to guide education programming and funding decisions for a transitional period of two years until December 2023. In February 2022, Global Partnership for Education acknowledged that the fragile and conflict-affected states principles were invoked. Taking cognizance of the ever-evolving context in Afghanistan and the absence of a recognized government, the SCG specifically supports capacity strengthening to the sector situation analysis with gender and equity lenses, educational planning review, sector coordination, and monitoring and evaluation of the AESTF. UNESCO is seeking to hire Coordination Officer to oversee the coordination roles of the project in collaboration with the implementing partners and donors Long Description ---------------- Main duties and responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Coordination Officer UNESCO Office in Kabul, the National Coordination Officer will be responsible for assisting the regional coordinators in the Interagency coordination mechanism through: 1. Working closely with regional coordinators ensures the timely cascading of information to regional levels. 2. Information Management, collating both quantitative and qualitative reports from zonal levels and producing periodic dashboards as required. 3. Remotely supporting Zonal Education Development partners periodic meetings, ensuring humanitarian development and peace partners. 4. Preparing in the country, regional and global coordination missions, conferences, and workshops 5. Supporting AESTF Partners capacity-building initiatives and supporting and mentoring regional coordinators on coordination. 6. Supporting the team in liaising with the Ed-DPG through the M&E working group and GPE secretariat about the project implementation progress and with international and local organizations to avoid duplications. 7. Arranging and organizing meetings for the development partners in the education sector and liaising with the regional coordinators on the smooth implementation of the planned activities. 8. Coordinating with the regional coordinators and sharing updated coordination landscape regularly with GPE partners and donors. 9. A first-level university degree, in combination with qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. **Work experience** - A minimum of five years of progressively work experience in coordination, education programming and other related fields. - Previous experience in an educational organization is an added value. - A deep understanding of development work, particularly of capacity development in education. - Work experience with the UN is an added advantage. **Languages** - Excellent command in English and Pashto/Dari. **Required Skills** ------------------- - Excellent skills in education programming, development of operation plan, setting up indicators for monitoring the implementation and provision of up-to-date project report. - Excellent strategic, analytical and communications skills. - Proven expertise in communication, public awareness, advocacy, reporting, and donor communication. - Ability to interact with partners at various professional levels and diverse backgrounds. - Excellent coordination and networking skills. - Excellent computer skills. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
