UNICEF has a critical role to play in ensuring rapid development in Malaysia is child sensitive and child focused and that children remain at the heart of the national development dialogue. This is done through the programming work, formal advocacy (public and policy) agenda and strategic partnerships.

The UNICEF Strategic Plan recognizes that the business sector is indispensable to maximizing progress for children and achieving the SDGs. Building on longstanding efforts with the business sector, UNICEF works through a spectrum of engagement based on shared objectives to achieve impact and results at scale by tapping into the income, influence, innovation and technical expertise of the business sector as a partner in delivering UNICEF’s programmes.

Purpose for the job

The incumbent is responsible to implement the High Value Partnerships strategy by developing, growing and securing new income and partnership opportunities, focusing primarily on companies, corporate foundations and/or high-profile individuals by implementing effective partnership models and deploying innovative resource mobilization strategies, involving but not limited to, access to corporate partners’ customers/employees base and direct philanthropic donation requests.

The key result is to secure new income and long-term partnership for UNICEF and influence in support of its mission.

Scope of Work:

Key responsibilities include:

New partnership development

- Identify, initiate and secure long-term partnerships, focusing on high value partnerships with a minimum value of US$100k per annum.

- Research and screen prospects in accordance with UNICEF’s processes and criteria to create and develop a pipeline of qualified high value corporate prospects.

- Develop compelling proposals and presentations for prospects by coordinating and working cross-functionally with relevant teams to identify marketing and programmatic funding opportunities.

- Participate and attend appropriate networking events, business roadshows and conferences to generate new prospect leads.

- Lead discussions and secure relevant meetings to explore partnership opportunities with the identified prospects from the established pipeline.

- Proactively approach prospects, maximizing the support in the event of humanitarian emergencies.

- Continuously update and maintain a pipeline of prospects, profiles and contact database.

Account Management

- Be the first point of contact for new corporate partnerships’ contacts, inquiries and requests. Responsible in coordinating and ensuring that responses are accurate and attended to in a timely manner.

- Build and foster strong relationships with prospects and ensure they are stewarded appropriately, resulting in profitable long-term partnerships.

Others

- Form strong relationships with relevant teams across UNICEF Malaysia, especially program leads, and the wider UNICEF network for prospecting opportunities that could contribute to the strategy.

- Leverage on existing events and/or organise and execute fundraising events that can generate sponsorships and encourage engagements in support of UNICEF’s programmatic objectives.

- Carry out additional tasks as required to support the team’s work.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas required: sales, marketing, public relations, external relations, CSR/sustainability or other relevant area.

Language: Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia are required

- Current knowledge of corporate development issues, industry insight, strategies, as well as strong business acumen.

- Resourceful and demonstrate the ability to determine the best approach and connect with prospects.

- Ability to engage with a wide range of partners and excellent networking and interpersonal communication skills.

- Tactful, discretion, self-starter and possess good judgment.

- Strong organization and planning skills.

- Demonstrate experience in building networks/relationships.

- Good knowledge of MS office applications.

- Ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas in a clear and concise form.

- Ability to take initiative and to work with minimum supervision.

- Committed to UNICEF mission and values.

- Good presentation skills.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
