This is a Consultancy contract. More about Consultancy contracts.

**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Field Office Duty Station: Phnom Penh Job Family: Communication and Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 13-OCT-2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Cambodia is home to over 400,000 indigenous people from 24 different indigenous groups. The languages spoken by the minority groups, as well as their cultural expressions are important cultural heritages that should be preserved, protected and revitalized. However, there are few records of audio-visual documents in indigenous languages, and the indigenous communities lack access to opportunities to create audio-visual archives to document their lives and culture. In addition, there is a void of information about Brao, Kriung, Tumpuon, Jaray and Kachhok communities and their languages, lives and culture on Wikipedia and other wiki platforms. In order to facilitate the implementation of the 2015 Recommendation and the promotion of UNESCO’s open licensed content on Wikimedia platforms, UNESCO Bangkok, in collaboration with Wikimedia Thailand, seek to recruit a Wikimedian in Residence (WiR) to support activities on the following topics: Memory of the World (MoW), Wiki-pages for UNESCO’s projects, video tutorials for UNESCO’s staff to edit and manage Wiki-pages, and other Communication and Information or Public Information related tasks. UNESCO believes in the essential role that languages play in the daily lives of people, especially as repositories of people's memories, identities, culture and traditions. UNESCO also think that the indigenous languages can be preserved and revitalized by archiving them and making them openly accessible by the wider audience on the internet. Therefore, within the framework of protecting, preserving and revitalizing indigenous languages, UNESCO cooperates with Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center to train indigenous youths to produce documentaries to record their lives and culture through audiovisual media, and build wiki-based open access audio-visual indigenous archives, documenting the languages, lives and culture of indigenous peoples in Cambodia.
