UNICEF Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia is developing a digital platform for parents of young children in the form of a mobile app that will equip parents with information needed for positive parenting and provide them with support during this critical period and beyond. The individualized mobile app will convert available contemporary evidence and guidance on positive evidence-based parenting practices on different aspects of child health, development and parental wellbeing into an accessible digital form and will empower parents to make timely and right decisions regarding the care and development of their child.

UNICEF in Bulgaria in cooperation with the National Centre for Public Health and Analysis and the Ministry of Health will adapt the application for Bulgaria during the period April 2021- September 2021 in stages, including translation of the initial content, adaptation of the content and its validation by experts, uploading the content into the central Content Management System, testing, further adaptation if needed, release and promotion of the application in Bulgaria. An expert group will be established at the National Centre for Public Health and Analysis to support the process: validate the content, make proposals for additional content and support promotion of the articles among professionals and parents. The official release of the application in Bulgaria is expected in September 2021.

How can you make a difference?

1) Review the translated text and make initial adaptation of the texts in accordance with the national recommendations and context of the selected articles/videos under the following thematic areas:

• Health and wellbeing;
• Child growth;
• Immunizations;
• Nutrition and breastfeeding;
• Other content in the medical field.

2) Review of the whole package of mandatory content

3) Adapted 20% of the preselected additional non-mandatory content

4) Adapted new 20% of additional preselected content – articles, video files and milestones (up to 100 new articles)

5) Provide feedback/comments of the reviewed content within 2 weeks after the receipt of the documents from UNICEF.

The work assignment is expected be completed for up to 60 working days in the period June -December 2021.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• Relevant university education: medicine with specialization in pediatrics and nutrition;
• Knowledge of health and wellbeing; child growth; immunizations; nutrition and breastfeeding;
• Excellent understanding of the national legislative framework and institutional arrangements for children in the areas of health child growth and nutrition;
• Working knowledge of English language;
• Excellent writing skills;
• Independent and self-starter.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
