National Consultant, under the guidance of the UNICEF Myanmar Social Policy Specialist, to support in overall planning, and monitoring the process of functional disability assessment and analysing the data on persons/children with disabilities and contribute to the set-up of Disability Information Management System (DIMS).

How can you make a difference?

In support to the team members completing the functional disability assessments in UNICEF priority areas, the consultant will conduct the overall planning and monitoring the process of functional disability assessment and analysing the data on persons/children with disabilities and contribute to the set-up of Disability Information Management System (DIMS).

Duty Station: Yangon

Duration of the Contract: 22 months, delivery-based, consultant manages his/her own time

Description of Assignment:

Tasks/ Milestones

Update on monthly basis the disability database (DIMS) monitoring matrix

Maintain tracking sheets for team members of social model assessment and follow up with them on any pending issues related to the social model assessment

Develop a compile workplan of the team members and monitor the progress of the workplan

Support the team members of social model assessment in database issues Liaise with the Application software developer team in database issues

Assist SP Specialist in analysing data and categorize the data for

- Integrating CWDs to SPCRM’s ongoing programmes (such as disability grant and mobile-based health micro insurance programs)

- Reviewing of CWDs in need of assistive devices

Participate in internal/external meetings and document and disseminate meeting summaries with assigned action items and follow-up issues

Assist in Training/workshops/meetings, including coordination with event management supplier, partners, and staff for logistics

Deliverables:

Monthly report on DIMS , Monthly progress reports

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical courses related to the nature of the organization. Disciplines: Development Studies, International Development, Social Sciences, disability related field, or any other relevant field
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Proven experience working in the field of disabilities and prior knowledge on the social model assessment application.
  • Training and experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software.
  • Good reading, writing and analytical skills (descriptive analysis).
  • Good communication skills: Ability to work independently and as a team member both within and outside the office.
  • Prior experience in UN Organizations/ UNICEF is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and in Myanmar required

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
