How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Chief of Education, the consultant will support the implementation of activities focusing on using technology in education

Work Assignment:

  1. Support relevant directorates (DNEB & DNTRP) of MoEYS to organize and conduct a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) on ICT among teachers in selected schools. This will include development of questionnaires, data collection, analysis and report writing on the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) in close collaboration with MOEYS and UNICEF.
  2. Based on the findings from the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) adapt and improve training content based on the existing ICT modules from Eskola ba Uma. Develop new content based on needs assessment on how to use the content available on the Eskola ba Uma Learning Passport Platform.
  3. Organize and conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) to INFORDEPE trainers based on the training module developed under Task 2.
  4. Support procurement of ICT equipment and internet data, laptops etc. and support coordination with relevant directorates and schools to setting up ICT learning spaces including oversight to refurbishment of classrooms in 10 schools and provision of internet data for tablets.
  5. Conduct training to teachers in 10 selected schools on the use of ICT in collaboration with INFORDEPE trainers.
  6. Support teachers to organize and conduct training for students in 10 selected schools using content from Eskola ba Uma.
  7. Lead and organize motivational events on ICT literacy in close collaboration with relevant directorates of MoEYS.
  8. Conduct regular monitoring and prepare report to document challenges and improvement for the next programmatic interventions. The consultant must visit each school at least 2 to 3 times during the project period. In addition, the consultant will also liaise with UNICEF Regional Office on the Learning Passport Platform
  9. Support the DNTRP of MOEYS to undertake the following tasks:

a. Serve as focal point for EBU, lead troubleshooting and provide troubleshooting support to the users of the distance learning platforms; manage the digital learning community, replying to messages on social media, answering questions/doubts, and organizing activities to ensure participation and collaboration, presenter for EBU

b. Coordinate with GADC of MOEYS and line directorates (DNEPE, DNEBE) and other technical staff in the MoEYS to identify digital content and support to localize these including dubbing and/or sub-titling in local languages, quality assuring their deliverables from a digital perspective.

  1. Submit final report that includes lessons learned, challenges, and good practice.

Deliverables:

1.1 Questionnaires for TNA developed, revised, approved, and used

1.2 Report on TNA finalized (Timeline: 15 days)

2. Draft module on ICT updated and approved (Timeline: 15 days)

3. Report on TOT training developed and shared (Timeline:10 days)

4.1 Internet data in 10 schools provided

4.2 Report of activity monitoring on refurbishment submitted (Timeline: 20 days)

5. Report on training to teachers developed and shared (Timeline: 30 days)

6. Report on training to students developed and shared (Timeline: 25 days)

7.1 Three motivational events on ICT conducted

7.2 Report developed and shared

(Timeline: 25 days)

8. Short monthly monitoring reports submitted. A final monitoring report must be submitted towards the end of the consultancy. (Timeline: 35 days)

9. Short monthly updates submitted and final report of support to MoEYS submitted by 10 October 2023. (Timeline: 50 days)

10. Final report with lessons learned and challenges identified and shared for improvement (Timeline: 10 days)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in education or in other relevant areas
  • Have 2 years of relevant experience including ICT in Education
  • Ability to develop implementation plans and prepare high-quality reports
  • Have good knowledge and understanding on the Information Communication and Technology (ICT)

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
  • The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
