Overview

Develop and implement MHPSS toolbox for children and families.

You have:

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, education, community development or relevant areas.
• Minimum professional experience of 2 years in Child Protection and Mental Health and psychosocial support or community development.
• Excellent analytical and communication and writing skills.
• Excellent oral and written proficiency in English and Tetun.
• Sensitivity to local culture and practices, preferably with experience in the Timor-Leste context.

How can you make a difference?

Under supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, develop and roll out a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support toolbox to support children and families wellbeing in vulnerable and emergency settings (preparedness and response), to be used and implemented by the Social Welfare Workforce and Social Solidarity Institutions caregivers.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILTIES:

1. Develop the work plan

2. Develop the MHPSS toolbox, as follow:

2.1 Including desk review, Consultation experts.

2.2 Develop/adapt the material, including the methodology, the specific planning activities, resources to develop each activity (adapting material from other countries and including material already develop in Timor-Leste), and the strategy of implementation.

2.3 The Toolbox need to be organized around sessions covering emotional support needs (grief, anger, sadness) for children and adolescent, including common topics like anger management, violent discipline, bullying, and harassment.

2.4 Include a guide to support the facilitators in selecting and developing the sessions for specific groups.

2.5 Ensure to have specific sessions developed for parents and caregivers of high-risk children (including institutional care) for them to participate in focused psychosocial support activities.

3. Toolbox Roll Out:

Plan, organize, and deliver the training to:

• One national workshop with the CPO and GBV focal points, NGO and SSI
• Five municipal workshops with the SWW
• Two workshops with SSI caregivers

4. Final report and recommendations.

DELIVERABLES:

1. Document of Work plan

2. A MHPSS Toolbox that include: the resources and activities related to each targeted group and a guideline on how to use the material and resource to develop each activity

3. A report of the trainings of the roll out the toolbox, including the list and contacts of participants

4. A final report of all the process, include all the material developed, recommendation and adjustments, follow up recommendation

DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT: 12 weeks, to be started as soon as possible.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE:

• 50% upon submission of deliverable 1 & 2
• 30% upon submission of deliverable 3
• 20% upon submission of deliverable 4

• Minimum professional experience of 2 years in the area Child Protection and Mental Health and psychosocial support or community development.
• Excellent analytical and communication and writing skills.
• Excellent oral and written English and Tetun.
• Sensitivity to local culture and practices, preferably experience of the Timor-Leste context, and able to work within the framework of the government’s policies on children, women and families.
