Digital engagement plays an important role in UNICEF’s response to global shifts in the fields of communication, fundraising, advocacy and development. Effective use of digital channels for communication of UNICEF’s key messages, through relevant content, experience and dialogue, allow individuals to connect directly with other individuals or groups, as well as brands and organizations, thus creating valuable relationships with both online and offline supporters. The use of digital media platforms helps to position UNICEF Ukraine as a knowledge leader, expands outreach and broadens engagement around children’s rights.

UNICEF Ukraine is supporting the global response to COVID-19 and the national vaccination campaign, including through its risk communication and community engagement activities. UNICEF Ukraine relies on digital tools and channels as the key platform to reach out to the vulnerable groups of the population, including families with children living in the conflict-affected regions of eastern Ukraine and provide them up-to-date, reliable and easy-to-access information about health, education related issues etc. Mobilization of various social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, etc. –helps reach out to UNICEF core target audience: children, adolescents and youth.

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Ukraine seeks a Social Media Content Creator to manage and expand UNICEF social media supported channels, adapt messaging of global social media campaigns, develop various types of content for youth-oriented social media channels in response to COVID-19 and support of vaccination campaign. This content is meant to target youth on social media to educate them about various aspects of vaccination, current situation with COVID-19 and keep young people updated about other paramount health topics. Given the role of young people in their communities, high-quality, trustworthy and social media-friendly content will help to spread reliable information on social media, engage young people as peer-to-peer and older generation change agents, advocating for safety of vaccines, etc.

Working under the supervision of the Digital Communication Officer, Social Media Content Creator will collaborate with Communication Section and Communication for Development teams, as well as Health and Education Sections.

Work assignment overview

Deliverable: Producing content on COVID-19 response, vaccination campaign. Generate and implement creative ideas for social media activations on COVID, vaccination, healthy behaviors, youth development-related topics. Adapt messages from UNICEF global social media packs under the supervision of Digital Communication Strategist for the UNICEF core campaigns (e.g. Infodemics, mental health, climate change, online safety, parenting etc.). Develop creative copywrite ideas and social media packs for at least ten key international days observed by UNICEF and partners Deadline: 10/20/2021 (30 days)

Deliverable: Daily management of UNICEF-led social media channels, including CoronaInfo, UReport, UPSHIFT. Together with graphic designer and video editors, coordinate production of social media assets for UNICEF-supported social media channels and UNICEF content calendars. Content management, including publication of posts/stories; providing regular community management; responding to inquiries, maintaining social media assets. Managing digital events, including engagement of influencers, liaison with partners, inviting speakers, coordinating the technical setup of video streaming, moderating participation, design layouts, drafting agendas, etc. Deadline: 09/15/2021 (25 days).

Deliverable: Developing publications, social media posts write ups, text for digital activations in accordance with the content plan. Deadline: 11/01/2021 (25 days)

Deliverable: Develop and update monthly and weekly content plans in close cooperation with Communication, Health and C4D sections. Preparing monthly/weekly reports and/or upon demand KPIs based reporting on performance of the channels. Deadline: 10/30/2021 (10 days)

Deliverable: Social media support to UNICEF 75 anniversary activities. Social media support to mental health campaign rollout in close cooperation with UNICEF partner NGO and celebrity supporter's team. Coordinating rollout of 'Digital Challengers' online competition. Curating content production on online safety for children and parents. Deadline: 09/27/2021 (20 days)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Languages, Communications

Professional experience: 1+ years experience working in social media/digital marketing, content creation, for a digital agency, NGO, private sector company, media outlet, or as a freelancer.

Language: Ukrainian - Proficient/native [C2]; Russian - Proficient/native [C2]; English - Upper-intermediate [B2]

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
